Pistorius ‘bullet in the chamber’ ad pulled from his website

An image calling Olympian Oscar Pistorius “the bullet in the chamber” has been pulled off his website in the wake of a fatal shooting at his home in Pretoria, South Africa. The double-amputee athlete was charged with murdering his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp early Thursday morning.

The image was part of a Nike ad campaign, and another image remains up on the runner’s site. It says of Pistorius’ body: “This is my weapon. This is how I fight.” Pistorius was also featured in a televised “My body is my weapon” ad.

Pistorius’ previous Tweets and interviews went under scrutiny in the wake of the murder charge. Deadspin mentioned a 2012 New York Times article that quoted Pistorius as saying he would go to a shooting range “sometimes when I can’t sleep.” He had previously Tweeted an image of himself at an Italian shooting range, boasting: “Had a 96% headshot over 300m from 50shots! Bam!”

  1. Hey there! Quick question that’s completely off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My blog looks weird when browsing from my iphone4. I’m trying to find a theme or plugin that might be able to resolve this issue. If you have any recommendations, please share. Many thanks!
