When Bad Movies Happen to Good Directors

Terrence Malick’s TO THE WONDER is ambitious, occasionally inspired and often interesting, but there is just no way to call it a good movie. Yet he is one of the greatest directors in the world, the best American film director living, in my opinion. You can read my review of TO THE WONDER here.

Hey, it happens. And it’s not a bad thing that it happens. Artists take chances, and it’s only by going out on a limb that you can come back with something that no one has ever done before.

Above we take a look at some directors at their best and worst — in some cases, it’s quite an enormous range.
