It was bound to happen: somebody was going to post something offensive about September 11 on September 11.

AT&T happened to oblige on Twitter when they posted “Never Forget” followed by an image of the New York skyline and a smartphone where the World Trade Center stood.

Many people are not happy because the image doubles as an advertisement for AT&T.  The telecommunications company took down the tweet and tried to apologize, emphasis on the “tried”.

Word of advice for anyone sending out an apologetic statement: absolutely avoid any instance of the word “if” after any form of the word “apologize”. Just put a period right then and there.
