Chaz Stevens of Deerfield Beach, Florida, is ‘airing his grievances’ in the Florida State Capitol, erecting a Festivus Pole constructed out of Pabst Blue Ribbon cans.
The holiday, created by the “Seinfeld” character Frank Costanza in response to the commercialization of Christmas (not to mention the whole religion part), has garnered a cult following among fans.
Stevens applied for a permit from the state to erect the pole near Christian Nativity scene in the capitol rotunda, and to his surprise, his request was granted.
An effort to place a Satanic monument next to the ten commandments at the Oklahoma statehouse is faring less well for reasons that probably don’t need to be explained.
