Sen. Richard Blumenthal’s Milford press conference on rail safety was interrupted when a train sped through the proceedings.
The senator and his visual aid were positioned on the yellow stipe at the edge of the platform when the train whizzed by.
The press conference was held in response to a Hearst Connecticut Media report that found Metro-North was hit with only $220,000 in fines even though federal inspectors had identified thousands of defects in the railroad’s system.
At Friday’s event, Blumenthal called for Congressional hearings and possible changes to federal law.
