Controversial Korean Oreo ad leaked

by:

A controversial South Korean advertisement is causing outrage after the leaked ad shows a baby holding an Oreo while breastfeeding.

The mother’s breast is exposed and her nipple is partially exposed in the advertisement, according to an ABC News story. In the lower corner, the ad says “Milk’s favorite cookie.”

Kraft, the owner of Nabisco, which produces Oreos, said the company did not make the ad and the ad never ran in any country. The ad is believed to have been created by Cheil Worldwide, an independent advertising agency.

“Our understanding is that they created it for use at an isolated advertising awards forum in Korea,” the official said. “It was never intended for consumer advertising or public distribution.”

What’s that hanging from window? A car

A car flew over a gulley and plowed into the second floor of a home in Brazil, according to an ITN story.

The 25-year-old driver suffered only minor injuries after being rescued from the car that dangled from the side of the house, the news site reported.

A family, which lived inside the home, was asleep at the time of the wreck. No one was injured because the car hit a structural bulkhead, the news site reported.

Police were investigating the wreck.

Brazil police arrest 3 for murder and cannibalism

by:

SAO PAULO (AP) — Police have arrested three people for allegedly killing at least two women, eating parts of their bodies and using their flesh to make stuffed pastries known as empanadas that they sold to neighbors in their northeastern Brazil city.

The three suspects — a man, his wife and his mistress — belonged to a sect that preached “the purification of the world and the reduction of its population,” police inspector Wesley Fernandes in the city of Garanhuns told the Globo TV network Friday.

The newspaper Estado de S.Paulo said the man, Jorge Beltrao Negromonte, wrote a 50-page book titled “Revelations of a Schizophrenic” in which he says he hears voices and is obsessed with the killing of women.

Fernandes said the three were arrested Wednesday and had confessed to the crimes.

The three allegedly lured women to their house by promising them a job as a nanny. They were tracked down after one of the arrested women used a credit card belonging to a victim who disappeared last month.

Police found the remains of the two women in the backyard of the suspects’ house, which enraged neighbors burned to the ground Thursday.

Fernandes identified the three as Negromonte; his wife, Isabel Cristina Pires; and his mistress, Bruna Oliveira da Silva.

The three allegedly had plans for killing another woman living in the nearby city of Lagoa do Ouro, Fernandes said.

Australian walks across country in Stormtrooper outfit

by:

If Darth Vader had a heart, he might be proud of Jacob French.

Jacob French, 21, walked more than 3,000 miles across Australia in a Star Wars Stormtrooper outfit to raise money for the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

French started his trek, dubbed Trooper Trek, in July 2011 and finished up Thursday in Sydney, according to MSNBC.com. He lost more than 26 pounds, destroyed seven pairs of shoes and raised more than $1000,000 for the charity during the walk.

The Star Wars fan said the outfit seemed like a good idea at first, but it did present some problems along the way.

“The idea of the Stormtrooper outfit was to create a bit more attention,” French told Australian newspaper The Magnet. “I wore it in a half marathon in Melbourne and had to have it modified for this to make it a bit more flexible. It gets pretty hot – the helmet is like wearing a bucket on your head.”

A maintenance worker found a meth lab inside a Walmart restroom in Alabama, according to a story from Huntsville news station WHNT.

Police told the station that a maintenance worker found pseudoephedrine pills and a plastic water bottle with residue inside the bottle. Police said someone appeared to be using a “shake and bake” type of lab inside the store’s bathroom.

“That kind of blew my mind when I read the report,” Davis said. “We’ve found a lot of shake and bake meth labs in different places but never inside a business.”

A person can make meth in about 15 to 30 minutes using this method. Oddly enough, the pills used to make the illegal drug weren’t purchased at the Walmart but at another pharmacy, the station reported.

Last year, a shopper was arrested for making meth at an Oklahoma Walmart using drain cleaner and other items in the store to concoct the drug.

Five face charges after Chinese teen sells kidney for iPhone, iPad

Five people face charges for intentional injury for buying a kidney from a 17-year-old boy who later used the money to buy an iPhone and an iPad, Reuters reported.

According to the story, the five people, including a surgeon, removed a kidney from the Chinese teenager in April 2011, four years after the country banned selling organs. One of the defendants received about $35,000 to arrange the transplant, and the 17-year-old received about $3,500 for selling his kidney.

The boy used the money to buy an iPhone and iPad. He later admitted to his mother that he got the money for the highly-coveted electronics by selling his kidney.

The boy, who lives in Anhui, one of China’s poorest provinces, is now suffering from renal deficiency, according to Reuters.
