Soccer star’s girlfriend claims he’s on injury list because of too much sex

Is there such thing as too much sex? If you are a professional soccer player, apparently yes.

AC Milan standout midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng is on the sidelines with an injury, and his girlfriend Melissa Satta claims it’s because of their steamy bedroom behavior.

“The reason why he is always injured is because we have sex seven to 10 times a week,” the 25-year-old told Vanity Fair.

The club recently confirmed that he will be out of action for up to a month because of a muscular problem.

“Boateng has sustained a muscular lesion in his left thigh and the estimated time of recovery is around four weeks, unless there are complications,” the club stated in a release.

He could miss eight games, including the Champions League round of 16 match against Arsenal on Feb. 15 — um, the day after Valentine’s Day.

Fans can blame Satta — a model, TV presenter and actress.

Mayor’s plan to help Latinos: ‘I might have tacos’ for dinner

Original video from wpix.com.

On the day where four East Haven police officers, including the local police union leader, were charged by federal authorities with civil rights abuses against Latino members of the community, the town’s mayor made stunning remarks to a New York-based TV crew.

WPIX11′s Mario Diaz asked Mayor Joseph Maturo, “What are you doing for the Latino community today?”

The mayor, a Republican who defeated Democrat incumbent April Capone by a slim 34 vote margin in November, replied, “I might have tacos when I go home, I’m not quite sure yet.”

Diaz said the mayor apologized for his comments and said it was “out of context.”

During the interview, Maturo also said he didn’t “get (Diaz’s) point” when the reporter stated there is only one Spanish-speaking officer in the 50-member department in a community with a large Latino population.

The community of 28,000 set along the Long Island Sound shoreline, has seen its Latino population double in the past decade, creating racial tensions, according to advocates of the Latino population.

The town first came into the spotlight in 2009, when a local priest, Father James Manship, was arrested while videotaping police officers allegedly harassing owners of a Latino market. Manship, whose parish is mainly Latino, became a loud voice against the town’s police department.

Maturo, first elected in 1997, served as the town’s Mayor for 10 years before losing to Capone in 2007. It took a recount for him to lose his seat, and another recount, this time in his favor, to get the top spot in town hall back in 2011.

Capone, who refused to publicly support the police department during the federal investigation and suspended police chief Leonard Gallo, was given a no-confidence vote by the town’s police department prior to her loss to Maturo.

Upon taking office, Maturo put Gallo back in charge and said he didn’t believe the police department had done anything wrong.

Tuesday, federal agents arrested four town police officers, Dennis Spaulding, David Cari, and Jason Zullo and Sgt. John Miller, accusing them of executing unreasonable search and seizures, making false arrests and using intimidation against local religious leaders, members of the Latino community, fellow police officers and police commissioners investigating them.

The four men have entered not guilty pleas. U.S. Attorney David B. Fein says the investigation is open and ongoing, and more arrests may be made.

Maturo said Tuesday he stands by his officers and police department.

Junk food at school isn’t making kids fat, study says

(Fotolia.com)

Junk food in schools: bad idea, you would say? So would I. So would most people, right? However, it’s not exactly the reason American kids are getting fatter, so says a new study.

From Jezebel.com:

Researchers at Pennsylvania State University studied the body mass indexes of fifth through eighth graders who attended both schools that sold junk food and those that did not. They also evaluated what happened when kids moved from schools that didn’t sell junk to schools that did. But no matter how they looked at the BMI data from the kids, they found no correlation between being in a school where “sweets and salty snacks” were sold and obesity. So basically kids who had access to junk at school weren’t any fatter than the kids who didn’t.

So kids are getting fat eating the junk they’re buying in the convenience store across the street from school, or, horrors!, the junk food at home, is the broad conclusion of this study.

Which makes sense to me. But it seems like if your kid wants to stash some food and munch all day, it wouldn’t be exactly impossible:

Who gave John Kerry two black eyes and a broken nose?

Kerry points to his injuries during a White House ceremony Monday. (AP)

Sen. John Kerry showed off some serious battle wounds when he visited the White House Monday for an event honoring the Boston Bruins, who won the Stanley Cup last year.

Coincidentally, the Massachusetts Democrat had injured himself on the ice, getting hit with a hockey stick during a recent game.

He had bruising around his eyes and a swollen nose, but still showed up to support his hometown team.

“He’s totally fine,” Kerry spokeswoman Whitney Smith said to ABC News, “Very ironically he busted his nose recently playing ice hockey, so the Bruins can certainly relate.”

Disney theme parks reverse beard ban

(Walt Disney Co.)

The Disney theme parks will let their male employees look a little more like one of Snow White’s seven dwarves — at least when it comes to facial hair.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, the Walt Disney Co. announced that male employees will be allowed to sport beards and goatees after a 60 year ban.

The new policy, which takes effect Feb. 3, eliminates a facial-hair ban that has for decades been a source of grumbling among some of the company’s male theme-park workers.

Disney’s new policy restricts any facial hair to no more than a quarter of an inch in length. And the company says any chin whiskers “must create an overall neat, polished and professional look” and must be fully grown in and well-groomed.

The reversal comes 12 years after the Magical Kingdom first allowed male workers to have mustaches, a decision made in 2000.

Police investigate Texas woman’s death in tanning bed

Authorities in the Dallas area are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found Sunday in a tanning bed.

From television station WFAA:

Investigators said they were called to a residence in the 5700 block of Terrace Trail (in the municipality of Sansom Park) at 12:17 a.m. A man told police he returned home to find his girlfriend, identified as 46-year-old Rhonda Waits, on the tanning bed and unresponsive.

Authorities told the station there were no signs of trauma.

The Tarrant County medical examiner has not ruled on a cause of death.

WFAA published an update to the story on Monday:

In a statement released Monday, authorities reported that the tanning bed was not on at the time Waits was found. However, the tanning bed does have a timer that turns the machine off when the time expires.

Television station KXAS reported, meanwhile, that the woman was discovered by a boyfriend who had been away from the house for the weekend.
