Hello Kitty

Those who know me well know I don’t even really like cats, but the minute I saw this I knew I had to post it. My friends who are always bemoaning the smell of kitty litter will thank me. And how much better would it be for everyone if this part of cat life was just a little less exposed? I’m referring to this kitty washroom discovered over at Web site called  Shelterrific, “where people who love their homes click.” Designed to integrate into your bathroom — or any other part of your house you want I would imagine — the kitty washroom hides the annoying litter box inside this cute cabinet with wainscoting. The front door swings open so you can change the litter easily, and the owner gets a few perks too (besides the obvious hidden litter box) with instant shelving and display space. The kitty door is 7″x 8″ portal while the overall cabinet is 19″W x 20 1/2″D x 25″. The front swings open like a door so you can easily scoop or change the litter. Not sure how you train a cat to go inside said kitty washroom but hey that’s your problem Available at Sky Mall.

  1. For households with multiple cats, an “OCCUPIED” sign could be hung near the entrance. When the cat is done, he/she simply flips the sign over to read “AVAILABLE”.

  3. Any thoughts about how you would train a cat to actually use it?

  4. Cat will go automatically because they know where their litter is, it smells. If there is a door just leave it open till they work out how to get through, if its one they have to push open. However, cats, especially mulit-cats, will not use this if you do not keep it clean, extremely clean. When you contain the smells created by a litter box in a small space like this or those cat cubbie/igloo things the smell becomes very harsh to the cat and they WILL stop going in there. They will resort to finding a corner of your house that suits them better.

And remember that you need to have 1 box per cat + 1 extra box for houses with more then 2 cats. 1 box for one and 2 for two is fine. If you do not you will get spraying

  5. Do you have to train the cats to know where to find where the litter is? This is very nice and interesting. Hope it is affordable because this obviously adds up to the decor the room.
