One of the reasons I love trolling Etsy each week is because it’s so inspiring to see what’s out there. Take this wicker headboard for sale at Rhapsody Attic. Now it would be lovely as a headboard. But it’s also cool as a piece of art. It’s being sold “as is,” which means no foot board or rails. Price is $225.

While I happily received my very own chalkboard for my kitchen at Christmas, I still have a bit of chalkboard lust. (If my kitchen was bigger, I would have a chalkboard wall for drawing on.) Not surprisingly, then, these shabby chic vintage former mirror frames caught my eye for their loveliness. The folks at Shugabee Lane will happily paint the frame in whatever color you want. Price is $34. C’mon you know you want one.

And finally to end this week’s Etsy round-up, this mod trio from Mod Apple‘s shop. Nesting tables are such a great idea for small spaces and to alleviate clutter. Each of these has metal legs and a wooden top with white laminate. The smallest is 11 inches tall, the middle is 15 inches tall, and the tallest is 19 inches tall. The tops of all three are 13 1/8 inches in diameter and approximately 7/8 inches thick. $100.

Want a stylish desk lamp that also offers lighting most like the sun? OttLite may have the lamp for you. The company’s 508 illumination technology is as close as you’re going to get to bringing the sun indoors. Why that kind of light? Because, the experts at OttLite say, natural sunlight provides the best balance of brightness and contrast, which in turn allows users to see colors more true to life and to see details more clearly. Also OttLite lamps generate less heat and reduce glare. You can choose from a variety of stylish lamps, including but certainly not limited to:
Marietta Floor Lamp, $94.99
Flex-Neck Desk Lamp, $42.99
Sterling Desk Lamp, $114.99
Now comes the best part! OttLite will give one lucky House Things reader a FREE Cambridge Desk Lamp. It’s January. The holidays are over and the end of winter is so far down the tunnel, it’s hard to see the light. What better way to brighten up a day than with some vibrant hand-painted furniture? While you couldn’t have pieces like this chair everywhere in a home, having one as an accent might be perfect. It’s the kind of idea I look at and think I could do that … and then reality sets in and I realize I should just contact an expert like Lisa Frick. Frick, who sells her goods on Etsy, paints tables, chairs and everything in between. Check it out.

Kicking off Top Three Thursdays on Etsy is a little animal magnetism with this fab vintage chair that’s been given new life with a touch of zebra … print that is. The chair, which is about 38″ high, has been lovingly restored by in the shop of Inged Design and Decoration. Shipping is free via Greyhound. Price is $460.

I’ve been a little obsessed with terrariums recently. I just love the idea of a mini gardenscape someplace in your house or say on a desk at work where you can daydream about being somewhere else. I do not, however, have much of a green thumb. (As I type this, I am not sure that two of the five plants currently in my office will be alive when I arrive there on Monday.) Anyway, this terrarium with an air plant that requires no soil at all — and virtually no water! — caught my eye on Etsy. The glass globe, which has a flat bottom so it can sit on a desk or be hung, is about 5″ in diameter and high. Each kit includes a tillandsias, or air plant, dried poppy pods, cream colored reindeer moss and neutral stones. Just soak the plant in a bowl or faucet once a week, allow it to fully dry before putting it back in the container, add a little light, and you’re good to go. Price is $25 and it’s available in Sea & Asters’ shop.

And finally because while I don’t own one, I find it virtually impossible to pass an Eames chair of any kind without clicking. This classic Eames wire chair is from the early 1950s and apparently in great condition. It’s available in Cathode Blue‘s shop for $275 with free shipping in the continental U.S.

And if you’re still wavering, here it is with its original bikini covering!

Looking for a cool way to hang the thousands of hats, gloves, mittens and scarves everyone has on this time of year? Well how about these cool functional and attractive sculptural hangers from Toma? Made in Montreal — hipster central for the Northeast I think — the hangers are wooden and come in a variety of shapes. What kid would argue about hanging up their woolens on something like this? The come in two or three loops long or three loops wide and are made from birch. Each is $20.

With Christmas only a few days away and Channukah in full swing, it’s party time in general so today’s Top Three Thursdays on Etsy is going to be all about party goods. There’s still time to get one of these lovely numbers shipped your way to celebrate New Year’s Eve for sure.
What better way to sip in the New Year than with a set of vintage champagne flutes? This gray smoke set of five is in mint condition and is available in Octavia Brown‘s shop for $65. All you need to add is the Veuve Clicquot.

If you prefer your drinks shaken, this giant mid-century Farberware cocktail shaker. I love the Art Deco lines, but I have to say that the quantity of martinis that could be mixed in this is a little scary. Available in Honey Bones‘ shop for $65.

And finally clearly a lot of ice is going to be in order for whatever this party is about. This Dansk teak ice bucket is straight out my parents’ cocktail parties when the men wore ties and the women dressed to the nines, and as far as I can remember I don’t think people really served much dinner…which may explain the hilarity that often ensued. The good news is these were in a neighborhood so people walked to the event. Anyway this bucket is solid teak, circa 1950, and apparently the design is inspired by the hulls of Viking ships. Price is $133 and it’s available in the Mod Fix shop.
