Decor Deal a Day!

I discovered this great decor deal of the day website, Wuslu, and am passing on the good news to you. Here’s how it works: The owners of the site post a deal a day, thanks to their extensive database of manufacturers and suppliers. They offer it up to you, one at a time, a day at a time. Once it’s sold it’s gone (or if the time hits 10 a.m. EST). How great is that! You can also sign up for alerts on their website, which seems like a no-brainer to me. Anyway here’s a sample deal from last week to let you see the possibilities: Buy two pillar holders and get four free pillars. Total price: $21. It’s like Christmas every day at Wuslu.

Spring Vibe

I’m not a huge fan of Lilly Pulitzer — a little too bright for me — but her vibrant Palm Beach style might be just the thing to update your bathroom for spring and summer. Her new home collection at Garnet Hill features everything from comforters to the shower curtains featured here. If you like bold, you’ll like these. Prices start at $88.

Seeing Orange

Everything’s turning up orange for Jonathan Adler this week, everything from storage boxes to plates to trays to chairs. Might be a tad much all together, of course, but as a fall accent piece orange can be just the thing. And as you can tell from the display below, Adler has something for just about everyone.

Budget Decor

If you haven’t checked out CB2 yet — Crate and Barrel’s less expensive younger sibling — you should because they have a plethora of goodies at affordable prices. I’ve written about some of there stuff before but their new spring catalog is out and there are a ton of affordable items. I’m thinking of updating our bathroom — it needs a new paint job at the very least and with the warm weather coming, I’m getting primed, so to speak. Here’s an ad from their new catalog to get you going on the bathroom of your dreams…or any other room for that matter.

Target This

If you’re a Target fan — and who isn’t? — but are one of the few who doesn’t have one nearby or who just likes the ease of shopping online and getting access to goodies that might not be available in your local Target, you might want to head there ASAP because they’re offering FREE shipping this week if you spend more than $50. And how easy is it to spend more than $50? VERY. If I were going this route, I’d think BIG because why not get the most bang for your freebie? With that in mind, I trolled the furniture section, where I was drawn to this lattice arm chair. I like the clean lines and think it would look great in a family room or in the corner of a bedroom. Price is $209.99. Happy shopping!

Tile It

Anchor Bay Tile has just about every tile you could possibly imagine — ceramic, glass, metal, decorative, you name it. I’ve been having tile fantasies recently about creating a backsplash for our kitchen and getting new countertops. It’s not likely to happen in the near future but a girl can dream, right? So here are some of my favorites from the Anchor Bay Web site to get your dreams going….Enjoy

glass tile

I’ve got a gray thing going on recently so I was drawn to these glass mosaic tiles. I think it really makes the back pop without being overbearing. It comes in a ton of colors and you can order free samples. Nice.

bamboo tiles

These kimono bamboo tiles are kind of cool. It wouldn’t work for too large a space — at least I think it would be over the top — but again I like the variations of colors. I also like the eco-friendly focus of using a sustainable product. The tiles, which are actual bamboo slices covered with a protective resin, are 4″ X 4″. They’re meant for dry areas, so wall accent is the way to go here.

Finally I’m including this one just because I liked the concept. You’d have to be a little daring and have just the right space, but if you did, how cool is this trumpet glass tile?

glass tile

I love the idea of designing a color pattern on your own for whatever space you’re thinking of. This, too, comes in a variety of colors and is $42 a square foot.

Lighting Fun

Okay these will be regarded as a little silly by some and as perfect by others. We still use nightlights in our house even though two of our kids are taller than we are and have facial hair. (The other lives in California.) The reason is simple: our hallway is dark and anyone who needs to get up in the middle of the night or — as is more the case in our house — walk down the hall WAY after the parents are in bed to their rooms, ideally VERY quietly, could kill themselves without a little light to guide the way. I love the idea of one of these lighting the hall instead or perhaps in the bathroom for guests who need to get up in the middle of the night in a strange house. Besides, what a great conversation starter! They’re available at Twig, a delightful Web site run by Elizabeth Burbage, who basically just buys cool stuff she likes and sells it. And this is her JOB! Right. The Candeloos come in a set of two, blue/green or red/pink. Cost is $39.
