Who’s No. 1? Inspector Cuozzo knows

by:

It’s not high school football season in Connecticut without some healthy, yet passionate, debate about what team will deserve to be crowned No. 1 in the state when the season ends.

Where else to hold this debate but Jarvis Stadium in Ansonia? Home of the reigning, NVL, Class S, and Connecticut No. 1. That’s not to mention a place that has been home to 15 state championships since 1976.

So join me, Connecticut high school football superfan Bob “Inspector” Cuozzo, fan Kevin Greene and former Ansonia player, alum and fan Jeff Barilovich as we kick off a debate sure to make its way to every bleacher, lunch room, office or practice field across Connecticut…

In this quick video, the bunch of us banter about No. 1 scenarios for Ansonia and Class LL schools like Greenwich, West Haven or Shelton, about where this Ansonia team might rank among the all-time greats, and other things while waiting for West Haven and Ansonia to resume their scrimmage Friday evening.

Hey SPB – over on the NVL blog they are talking about a state Top 10 poll being out already. I haven’t heard of one, do you know of anything?

  2. Michael Smith says:

Bobby Cuozzo knows more about high school football and high school football history that anyone in the state of Connecticut. He should write a book to share his experiences and knowledge of the high school game. In the state of Connecticut, Bobby Cuozzo is # 1!!!
