Food for thought… (here’s a hint: more A.T.)

by:

…Courtesy of Mr. Alex Thomas, Ansonia’s two-time all-state tailback.

The quick setup: He had already scored on a 1-yard run in the two quarters of “full go” between Shelton and Ansonia in front of a nice crowd at Jarvis Field.

After Shelton went for and failed to convert a fourth down play around the Ansonia 30 with 50 or so seconds left to go in the half, it used up its time outs trying to get the ball back for one more crack at tying the score before halftime…

With 14 seconds left, and on second (third?) and long from inside the 30, Thomas ripped off this 50-something yard run down to the Shelton 10. (I figured that would be the end of the half, so I didn’t bother to record until Thomas had broken away).

Ansonia called time out, then gave the ball to you-know-who.

This score was all Alex.

I’m dying to hear thoughts on Thomas. Ansonia

Been following Ansonia football since their lose to New London i think was 1989? alex since his sophmore year and he is right up there with the best. He sees the field and has the quickest cut I have seen and speed to match anyone.Ansonia’s team that defeated Bloomfeild 44-18? for the state championship in 94? may have been better but not in the tail-back position where Alex Thomas rules
