I’ll admit I’m still a little hungover from football season and, with an all-star team to put out, we’re still not finished with football.
Ready or not, basketball season tips off tonight.
So here’s what we managed to scrape together for a preview of our regional teams (remember, we shrink back the boarders after football season, leaving coverage of teams beyond greater Bridgeport to the Advocate of Stamford and the NewsTimes of Danbury
Anyway, here’s everything you need to know about our regional teams, the preseason poll and (NEW!) my run down of tonight’s schedule.

AND, finally, here’s what we have on tap (tip?) tonight!
HOT TICKETS
ND-Fairfield vs. Bunnell (at Newtown Tipoff Tournament):
Both of these teams have personnel issues (Bunnell, late football players; ND transfers and academics) that won’t resolve until January. But the season waits for no one.
Central at McMahon:
Upset Central? Former player Mo Tomlin takes over a decent group in Norwalk. Central coach Barry McLeod says this is his youngest and smallest team ever.
Kolbe Cathedral at NFA:
With Andrae Beckford and Dominique Langston, KC’s supposed to be the class of the SWC. NFA has R.J. Evans.
Trinity Catholic at Trumbull:
With junior Tevin Baskin back, Trinity Catholic is a team to beat in the FCIAC. But the Crusaders won’t have John O’Leary, out because of mono. With Akil Hodge Trumbull is a dark horse candidate to do some damage this year. Hmmmm….
INTRIGUING MATCHUPS
Stratford at Amity:
En Guarde! Stratford’s got Tim Martin and Joe Charles. Amity’s got Sam Markle and Mark Skogg. May the best men win.
Staples at Bassick:
New Staples coach Colin Devine’s first order of business? A trip to the West End to face the defending FCIAC champions.
St. Joseph at Fairfield Warde:
A contrast of skills. St. Joseph is supposed to be the class of the FCIAC. Warde didn’t even win a game last year.
Stamford at Harding:
Not a lot of people giving Harding enough credit, I think. Stamford is always dangerous.
THE UNDERCARDS
Kaynor Tech at Newtown (Newtown Tipoff Tournament), 8; ND-West Haven at Derby; Fairfield Ludlowe at Darien; North Branford at Foran; Guilford at Law; Hand at Masuk; Whitney Tech at Platt Tech; Kennedy at Seymour; Career at West Haven; Stamford Academy at Weston.

Tim,
No coverage on New Fairfield??…you cover us in football.
just curious.
sorry sean, was looking at swc buzz, and thought tim haha my apologies.
just saw kolbe last night, and they are none too impressive. i sure hope they are not top 15 material or our state is in trouble
