A Shelton graduate and history and science teacher there since 1974, Marocco was in his 29th season as baseball coach. He was also the PA announcer for Shelton football for the last 30 years, a regular scorekeeper for Shelton’s boys and girls basketball teams, and part owner of B&B Batting Cages on Howe Ave. with former coach Joe Benanto.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 3-7 p.m. at Riverview Funeral Home on River Road in Shelton.
The funeral will be held Monday, 9 a.m. at the St. Margaret Mary Church on Long Hill Ave. in Shelton.

Shelton athletic director John Niski said the team’s next two games, Friday vs. Foran and Monday vs. Fairfield Prep will be postponed while the team, school and community tends to memorial services.

“He bled orange and black,” Niski said. “He really gave his entire life to Shelton and Shelton athletics, and to the town and to the Valley. He was well known and well loved throughout the Valley. He affected so many lives and helped formulate so many young people.
“He’s irreplaceable and Our hearts go out to his family, his numerous friends and acquaintances.”
