Busy busy rainy day

by:

Whew, there’s a lot of rain out there and checking The Weather Channel it looks like there’s more on the way.

Check for all the latest postponements here on the CIAC Week 3 Football Scoreboard

Now, in my humble opinion ANYBODY who has a turf field should…no, MUST play. This is football, not cricket. Your taxpayers didn’t pony up millions for a turf field so your school can postpone games. These things were built for rain. Suck it up and play. This means you SCC. (not Hillhouse, though. Bravo, guys).

Now, to the postponements…

SATURDAY
Here’s the list of games postponed to Saturday:
Derby/O’Brien Tech at Branford
Hamden at West Haven, 7
Xavier at Notre Dame-WH, 7
Darien at Ridgefield
Update: Norwalk-Harding is now at Kennedy Stadium

SUNDAY
First, the most drastic: Amity’s home game vs. Wilbur Cross will be played Sunday, 1:30 p.m., at Shelton

ELSEWHERE SUNDAY: Law at Sheehan will be at 1 p.m.
Guilford at Foran will be played at 3:30
Pomperaug at Newtown will be played at 6
Bullard Havens at Prince Tech will be at 2 p.m. at Cheney Tech.

There are a ton of games on Monday but nothing we should be concerned about just yet, only those grass-playing CCC, ECC and Nutmeg schools.

Yeah – but reporters like you will complain about covering the game in the rain… how’s your sniffles?

  2. SPB says:

Correction: Reporters who are not me. :) As long as I bring an umbrella and my galoshes, I’m good to go.

  3. fb says:

if there are any doubters about berlin….they have a 39-0 lead over middletown at the half

  4. bigmikect says:

just came from the central trumbull game, trumbull won 19-14,alotrt mistakes and questionable playcalls on the central side, they coulda won that game.also looks like it wasnt the week to play greenwich,48-07 over mcmahon ouch!

  5. Hank says:

Berlin is a solid team, people shouldn’t doubt them, and they have been solid the past few years. However, that middletown team is not that great with or without the starting QB having seen them in the first game with him against Bunnell

  6. RAY BROWN says:

Berlin has no team speed which is why they have trouble in playoffs

  7. fb says:

ray, please see berlin play this year and then u will be rethinking that comment.

  8. bigmikect says:

KNOCKS OFF RIDGEFIELD 32-29,DID I SEE BUNNELL ONLY WIN BY 5 2DAY???

  9. fb says:

just got back from the ansonia/wilby game….wow if anyone thinks ansonia is the best team in CT, with roberts or not, u better think again. if any of the poll voters have ansonia #1, u really need to rethink that….ansonia is A LOT worse than last year and is no where near the best team in this state

  10. RAY BROWN says:

fb————ansonia is banged up-if you were there you would have noticed they didnt throw one pass all game and hardly gave up a first down-they wanted to get outta there with a win playing j.v. kids most of the game——-they didnt play at least seven starters-and theyre still undefeated

  11. RAY BROWN says:

big mike —–hows that ridgefield thing working out this year?

  12. WHo knows says:

Bunnell’s win against Weston should not effect how they are seen around the state. Weston is better than credited. And seeing Bunnell Rally after being down 25-6 in the third shows their strenth. Every team has a bad week and most don’t come up with a win afterwards. This wake up call will have Bunnell showing how good they really are.

  13. deify says:

I am sure you will see less votes for Ansonia and Bunnell after their dismal performances. “Who Knows”–you sound like a fool trying to defend Bunnell and the fact that they got smacked around by Weston.

  14. tj says:

    WHO knows-

Certainly in the polls they should drop. The early season polls are mostly based on past year results. Now that we are three games it to the season, Bunnell, in my opinion, has not shown its self to be a top five team.

They have great talent at QB & WR and they may very well 3-peat. But right now I’d have them 6 or 7, still not too shabby.

  15. George Hummell says:

^^^ just a little random. I can tell you deffinately play for bunnell and are worried about yourselves after that weston game….

  16. bigmikect says:

ray brown waddup brother, yeah they look kinda dissapointing so far,im actually a danbury guy,i just thought with matt white coming back, ridgefield would be in the hunt.wow didnt know bunnell was down by tht margin in the gam.i dont care wut people think, weston is still weston.so all u guys tht get emotional about the strength of bunnells oppononents, how good middletown is,how good pomperaug is-save it cuz had that been masuk or some other team that barely escaped weston,u guys would be on here kncking the *(&^ out of them, and u know its true!be fair about it thats all.

  17. bigmikect says:

ALSO POMPERAUG IS NOW 0-3 24-13 LOSS TO NEWTOWN,

  18. gman says:

That Bunnell-Weston score was a shocker. Bunnell won and that’s the bottom line. However, they should drop in the polls maybe one or two places. Darien and Hamden belong in the top ten off of their impresssive victories so far. Greenwich just might run the table and sneak into the LL playoffs-though they are nowhere near the team they were last year. New London and Berlin will not lose due to schedule. Ansonia and Seymour are also on a collison course and will not lose until they play each other-again the schedule is poor. New Canaan is solid but as of now they don’t merit being number 4 in the state–just don’t know how good this team is. Prep could be 0-2. SCC is tough and the Fciac is top heavy. Many more upsets to come.

  19. RAY BROWN says:

also middletown got crushed by berlin-bunnell people like to upgrade an obviously poor league
