It’s Tuesday afternoon, and you know what that means? It’s poll day.
If I had a cute little Letterman/Shaffer diddy, I’d play it right now: “Polls, we’ve got your polls! Come get your polls! Here are your polls! Enjoy your polls!”

Archive for October, 2008Poll Day: Week 5It’s Tuesday afternoon, and you know what that means? It’s poll day. If I had a cute little Letterman/Shaffer diddy, I’d play it right now: “Polls, we’ve got your polls! Come get your polls! Here are your polls! Enjoy your polls!” ‘Controversy’ from our old friends in Naples (with updates!)Here’s the headline from the AP story posted on ESPN’s website, brought to my attention by correspondent Ray Curren. I think all of us Nutmeggers know what this is all about. Fallout over 91-0 score affects two Florida high school teams. Naples 91, Estero 0. Yeah, that’s right, our good buddies from yesteryear, Bill Kramer and the Naples Golden Eagles (remember them? Naples 31, Greenwich 12) found themselves embroiled in a ‘controversy’ of sorts that managed to make the front page of ESPN.com when they scored 13 touchdowns in a 91-0 rout of nearby Estero. Week 5 Saturday ResultsHere are the recaps of all Saturday’s action: Saturday roundups As it turned out Norwalk was no match for New Canaan, McMahon was no match for Darien. But Westhill was quite the match for Wilton and now there are only two unbeaten teams left in the FCIAC, the aforementioned Rams and Blue Wave. In the SWC, we now have Bunnell (5-0, 4-0 SWC), Bethel (5-0, 4-0) and Brookfield (4-0, 4-0) as the last unbeatens. Newtown is 4-1, but 4-0 in the league. In the NVL, the only unbeatens left are, of course Ansonia (5-0) and Seymour (5-0). In the SCC, we only have Hamden (5-0, 4-0) in Division I. Hillhouse (5-0, 4-0) in Division II. Friday Night Knockouts
I DON’T care who you are, nobody saw what was coming in a crazy Week 5 Friday night that made Week 3 look like Week 4. (What does that make Week 4? I dunno. Spring practice?) It was such a shocking night we had some coaches call us just to double check that the CIAC site was telling no lies. Click the links below (if you dare) to get a gander at all the mayhem: Citizen’s Week 5 ReportsWe’re trying something new here: Feel free to add your thoughts and personal analysis of all the Week 5 games Friday night and Saturday. Lots of good games out there. Seymour-Crosby, Masuk-Brookfield, Foran-North Haven, Hamden-Shelton, Norwalk-New Canaan. What do you, dear readers, have for us? And, as always, keep it civil (you know who you are). Friday Morning reading (Week 5)Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to Week 5. Here’s a run down of stories for the Connecticut Post‘s region leading up to today’s games (Updated: 2:20 p.m.) Week 4 PollsHere are this week’s top 10 polls. Not lots of controversial picks out there… except Oooh-oooh, lookit this! No. 1 votes for New Canaan? Hmmmm, I wonder… (Note: From now on, we’ll list the entire poll by rankings rather than other receiving votes per suggestions from readers.) Suggestion BoxHow are we doing? Like what you see? What can we do better? What else can we be? The Connecticut Post will now take your suggestions, your praise or your criticism of its high school football coverage. Head football writer Sean Patrick Bowley (that’s me), is working on his podcast today, but will take time to answer all of your questions or concerns throughout the week. So fire away, if it strikes you. As for the most incendiary of you out there, please be gentle. SPB |
