Welcome to Rob’s Turkey Day preview. First off, only games played on Thanksgiving get mentioned. This Wednesday night trend is disturbing yet somehow fitting for a state with a 50 point rule.
Wright Tech/Stamford Academy at Platt Tech – Platt Tech wins because their QB coach will be up late drawing up plays on the Norwoods chalk board.
Brien McMahon at Norwalk – After rough start, Norwalk has looked better.
Darien (technically) at New Canaan – To satisfy all parties, the game will be broken down into 4 separate quarters. The first quarter will be played for bragging rights. The second quarter played for poll position. The third quarter will be played for playoff seeding. And the last quarter will be played for the most important trophy in the history of mankind – the FCIAC title. NC wins 3 out of 4.
Trinity Catholic at Wilton – If this was basketball, it would be an easier pick.
Bridgeport Central at Harding – Rough year for Central. Tristan Roberts would have helped.
Staples at Greenwich – Two good programs meet with nothing on the line. Does not happen often.
Fairfield Ludlowe at Fairfield Warde – Really guys, just combine again. No one will mind, or notice.
Naugatuck at Ansonia – Chargers win easy. The game is marred when coach Rob Plasky is arrested at halftime and charged with the murder of the Naugatuck football prgram.
Amity at North Haven – The Fan bar and grill has lots of Amity stuff hanging up there. I like that place. Go Amity!
Derby/O’Brien Tech at Shelton – Every few years, Derby knocks off Shelton when they have no business doing so. Could this be one of those years? Do the future hairdressers and plumbers push them over the top?
Fairfield Prep at West Haven – I bet you West Haven wins this game. No pun intended Eddie Mac.
Hillhouse at Wilbur Cross – House should win, but this one may be closer than the experts think.
Jonathan Law at Foran – The battle for the Post Mall Cup. JL, please pick a name, is it Eagles or Lawmen? Can we make a final decision on this? Either way, they win it.
Notre Dame-WH at Hamden – This is the last year this game will be known as the Green Bowl. School officials are worried that it promotes drug use.
Bethel at Brookfield – Brookfield wins the game, after which Bethel fans will say the game was a fluke and still claim to be better.
New Milford at New Fairfield – I have absolutely nothing. Nothing at all.
Notre Dame-Fairfield at Immaculate – In 2002, both of these teams made the playoffs. Fair to say this game has slightly less juice this year.

To all the seniors playing their last game, congratulations and best of luck. Play your hearts out because as all of us old frustrated jocks know and what Kid Rock says best:
“I swear that time’s a trick
It disappears in oh so quick
Man I was just sixteen
And now I’m starin’ at thirty-six”
Roll On by Kid Rock
Masuk 35 Newtown 14 Masuk’s D Contains DeVellis.
Wilbur Cross 21 Hillhouse 20 WC Home Field Advantage helps as well as playing a tough schedule.
New Canaan 17 Darien 7 Two 4th qtr. scores stun Darien as NC stops the run again.
Wilton 28 Trinity Catholic- Vinnie Cannon runs option to perfection…Cortese runs wild but comes up short.
Crosby 42 Kennedy 21- Crosby’s Offense rolls but they fall short of a state playoff berth as Newington and Windsor win nailbiters.
Sheehan 38 Lyman Hall 7- It’s a Wallingford Event!
Greenwich 3 Staples 2- Two teams with woulda coulds shoulds seasons.
Ansonia 50 1/2- Naugy- 3- Brockett suspended for first playoff game.
Oops I meant Ansonia 50 1/2- Naugy 0- Brockett suspended for the first playoff game.
Just saw highlights on Channel 3 and Cablevison 12- they both had Stratford beating Bunnell 50-35 but it was the opposite. Windsor looks like a good team despite being from the Hartford area. I am hoping that Newington wins tomorrow so Masuk does not have to play Crosby or Bunnell. Newtown played well against the pass tonight picking off 4 but gave up 40 points.
hahahaha brookfield 14 Bethel 7. Brookfield is nasty! SPB thoughts on this?
25 penalties in the Cross-Hillhouse game. Huge Ligns, some talented players, but no kicking, punting, nor discipline. Hillhouse better be disciplined if they want to advance in the state playoffs.
Who knew White was that fast on the 40 yard TD run he had. He looked like Hames out there with his 4.4 speed.
