Like football, there’s going to be live TV coverage of some SCC basketball games (none from around here, though).
Here’s the truncated announcement from the SCC (and not WTNH, btw):
“The Southern Connecticut Conference will be featured on the WCTX/My TV 9 “High School Basketball Game of the Week” television package this winter.
Seven contests involving nine boys and girls teams from SCC member schools,
including both the league’s boys and girls championship games, will be televised. Games will be streamed live on WTNH.com, and be replayed on Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. on WCTX (otherwise known as MyTV9).
Week of Jan. 9 – Hamden at Xavier (boys)
Week of Jan. 16 - Hillhouse at Mercy (girls)
Week of Jan. 30 - Hand at Guilford (girls)
Week of Feb. 13 – Hillhouse at Career (girls)
Week of Feb. 16 – Wilbur Cross at Hillhouse (boys)
Week of Feb. 26 - SCC Girls Basketball Championship Game @West Haven HS
Week of March 4 - SCC Boys Basketball Championship Game @East Haven HS
Again, it’s all greater New Haven stuff. Nothing on our end. (sniff) Perhaps some day…
Overall, it wasn’t a bad production during football season (the few times I caught it on replay). The WTNH guys could use some brushing up on high school rules and the audio could be a tad better. But not bad. It’s better than the alternative, which is nothing.
NDWH will be webcasting at least 5 hoops games this winter, including the season opener on 12/17 vs East Haven on gogreenknights.com. Coach Gary Palladino will be going for career win number 500. Other games will be Prep (1/13), Foran (1/27), Hamden (2/10) and Guilford 2/23). Replays will also be available within 36 hours (hopefully sooner).
It’s only my opinion but I think Coach Palladino is the finest coach in ct.
Coach Palladino does as good a job as anyone can with the limited talent he has for Basketball at Notre Dame.He is one coach that realizes to use the talent he has and not go to deep on the bench.If he went deep on his bench in most years he would win about 5 less games a year,in my opinion.
The broadcast are on MY9 which is a New Haven county station.I don’t think many people in Fairfield county receive it other than Shelton.That might be why they are only doing SCC games.
