STRATFORD (13-0) has clinched the No. 1 seed. (Plays Weston Wednesday.)
BUNNELL (11-2) has clinched the No. 2 seed. (Plays Notre Dame-Fairfield Wednesday.)
NEW FAIRFIELD clinched the third seed Monday night with its impressive win over Notre Dame-Fairfield.
Here’s where it gets interesting…
NOTRE DAME (9-4)
Remaining: Bunnell. Tiebreak over: New Milford.
Prognosis: Notre Dame must beat Bunnell to clinch the No. 4 seed. A loss, and the Lancers could sink as low as No. 6.
NEW MILFORD (8-5)
Remaining: Kolbe Cathedral. Tiebreak over: Masuk
Prognosis: New Milford will clinch at least the No. 5 seed if it defeats Kolbe Cathedral. If Notre Dame and Masuk both lose, the Wave will jump to No. 4. A loss could sink the Wave if Masuk, Pomperaug and Immaculate win.
MASUK (8-5)
Remaining: Bethel. Tiebreak over: Notre Dame, Kolbe Cathedral, Immaculate.
Prognosis: A win over Bethel would put the Panthers in prime position to grab the fifth seed or even the No. 4 if Notre Dame beats Bunnell. It loses a tie with New Milford, Immaculate and Pomperaug, however, and could be out in a four-way tie with those schools.
KOLBE CATHEDRAL (8-5)
Remaining: New Milford. Tiebreak over: Pomperaug, Notre Dame-Fairfield.
Prognosis: Kolbe Cathedral needs some help to climb the ladder, namely a win over New Milford, a Masuk loss to Bethel and Notre Dame loss to Bunnell. Kolbe Cathedral could jump as high as No. 4 in that case. If everything goes against the Cougars, they would at worst be saddled with a No. 8 seed, since they lose a tiebreaker to Immaculate.
IMMACULATE (7-6)
Remaining: Oxford. Tiebreak over: Pomperaug, Kolbe Cathedral, New Milford.
Prognosis: Probably in the best shape with winless Oxford in the finale. That will clinch a spot, since it beats either loser of KC-New Milford and Pomperaug.
POMPERAUG (7-6)
Remaining: Barlow. Tiebreak over: New Milford, Masuk, Newtown
Prognosis: It must beat Barlow to have any shot. Even with a win the Panthers are still in trouble unless Masuk or New Milford loses. Pomperaug holds the tiebreaker over both.
In the case of a three- or four-way tie, we think it comes down to overall head-to-head records against the other teams vying for playoff spots. Check back later for official word.
