Bassick ended its season with a swoon, three straight losses that put the Lions on the outside looking in with Staples’ victory over McMahon. The Wreckers are playing in their first FCIAC tournament since 2004. Central lost to Trinity Catholic, but still secured its highest seed since it did battle with the Crusaders in 2004. Vito Montelli and Charlie Bentley match wits again in an FCIAC quarterfinal game.

Elsewhere, New Milford defeated Kolbe Cathedral in two overtimes, giving the Cougars a rare No. 8 seed. Instead of a typical Kolbe Cathedral-Stratford final, we get them in the first round. The rest of the SWC has a decidedly northern flavor, with New Fairfield, New Milford and Immaculate all getting in.
