The semifinals will be played Monday at East Haven. Hamden vs. Sheehan at 6 and Hillhouse vs. Career at 7:45.

  1. Why does the SCC tournament need 13 teams in it? What is the point of these things? Having four rounds in a high school bball conferenece tournament is beyond ridiculous and a sure sign that your league has way too many teams.

What if the three division winners made the tournamet, along with 2 wild cards. These two wild cards would play each other and the winner would create a four team playdown. Wouldn’t this produce an undisputed champion just as well as a 13 team playoff?

Look at the results this year – not one lower seeded team won their first round game. Why not? Because they aren’t as good as the higher seeds, which was made obvious by the regular season results. So there was no need for them to make the SCC tournament in the first place.

  2. Rob,
I think the reason for the extra round is to give the teams that qualified for the states an extra game. Since the regular season ends for SCC teams two weeks before the states start teams would be sitting idle looking for scrimmages.
