  1. From what i saw yesterday,i cant see cross getting in the way of any teams left in contention.West havrn on the other hand, could be a different story. They seem to have a unique blend of size and speed and could cause matchup problems for xavier or cheshire.Today i like oxford and possibly stamford to keep it close, but dont see any upsets today.bunnell/n.f. could be a big shootout.

  2. SPB, what do you mean by, “Tigers (Ridgefield) have been real quiet lately”?

    Comment by Nicky — October 30th, 2009 @ 6:18 am

  3. You read or hear much of anything about Ridgefield lately? I haven’t. They haven’t played a big game in a while, etc.

  4. ridgefiled really needs to win a big game or they can not be taken as a serious contender in this league. they are a solid second tier team…but in a year like this they are not yet up there with st. joes, id put them right in there with central and trumbull.

Tier 1: NC, the BIRD, Staples
Tier 2: St. Joes, Trumbull, Central, Ridgefield, Darien
Tier 3: Warde, Ludlowe, Norwalk, Wilton
Tier 4: McMahon, Danbury, Stamford, Trinity
    Tier 5: Harding, Bassick, Westhill

  5. Ridgefield has always been a very curious team. You never hear about them because eveytime they have a chance to step up they never do. If this team can ever get going the whole town will come out to watch them. They either lose to Staples or New Canaan during the year and they are knocked out of State and Fciac contention.

They have tremendous fan support and very talented players and a good coaching staff. They also have a very favorable schedule this year but that one loss to Staples will prevent them from going anywhere. It’s unfortunate.

  6. Ridgefield is 5 – 1 with that one loss to Staples. Quarterback issues resolved since then. Ahead of Greenwich in LL. Crushed Norwalk last week. Running game improved. Yeah I guess you’re right.

  7. NICKY

The problem with Ridgefield is simple: They have no offensive players.

I saw them twice this year. They played Stamford, who is horrible and then I saw them play A good Staples team. They can’t score.

At the end of the Staples game — Ridgefield was on the 4 yard line. First and goal against Staples third team defense. After four plays in which they did not score, Ridgefield move 1 yard.

Nicky, look at their schedule-if they played Greenwich, New Canaan, St.Joes, Staples, Central or Darien they wouldn’t win a game.

And I might add, I root for Ridgefield

  8. Last week in the FCIAC was chaos. This week should return to normal as Bridgeport Central, Trumbull, and Greenwich all have layups at home and New Canaan travels to Wilton.

Doesn’t matter if Pacilio, Gelman, or a cheerleader takes the snaps tonight, Staples is winning at Ludlowe.

Warde might be able to stay close for a while tonight, especially at home, but the Hogs will regroup and get the win. On a side note, we at CT Football Live love teams with two accepted mascots. St. Joes Cadets-Hogs. Law Eagles-Lawmen. West Haven Blue Devils-Westies.

Looked like a marquee game in the preseason. Masuk at Brookfield now looks like a rout. The doubt keeps coming for Masuk, but so do the wins.

Shelton plays Hillhouse in the matinee. House has won three straight after a slow start, but that streak ends this afternoon because Shelton is the best 3-3 team to ever wear uniforms. Or was that West Haven? Or Hand? I will check with the SCC spin machine and get back to you.

I don’t care if this game is played in the SCC, the NVL, or the XFL, the Ansonia-Derby game is one of the many reasons to love high school football. Derby has no chance at the playoffs, Ansonia has a slim chance, but this game means so much more than that. Fitting that it’s Halloween weekend, because the ghosts from the past will be out in full force for this Valley war.

Pomperaug makes the trek to New Milford to slay their latest victim.

Crosby and Seymour have one win combined. Wolcott at Watertown is a key game tonight. The NVL has been turned upside down this year.

There has been so much buzz around Notre Dame WH lately. Bowley has a crush on them I think. But something just smells fishy about that game at Hand tonight, and it is not the low tide. Hand is a proud program, and they play tough at the Surf Club. Keep your eye on that one.

  9. From when ive seen, ridgefield home games are always packed-the community really gets behind their team, plus games at tiger hollow are an event great place to play or watch a game-excpet for the lack of cell phone service.Ridgefield did knock off greenwich last season, for what it was worthmbut i guess i gotta agree about them not winning the big game all the time.Lets see if they finish up strong w the new qb change,i see them going 9-1.heck you guys mite be saying staples has no offense after this week, you never know.

    Comment by the ruler — October 30th, 2009 @ 12:28 pm

  10. I’ve been a Ridgefield fan for years and you are right, they rarely win the big one. I think you will see a different team these last 4 games. New QB and O-line working well together opening up holes for Arcoleo and Gravitte.

Trumbull will be the best indicator left this year. If they beat Trumbull and end up 9 and 1, that’s a pretty pretty solid year playoffs or not. Would be a shame to do so and not make the post-season.
