by:

It’s that time of the week again. Eat your dinner, take out the trash and do the dishes, then get your homework done early.

Join myself and NewsTimes’ writer Kevin Duffy for a live high school football chat tonight at 8 p.m.

We’ll be going for an hour so get your questions ready. Hot topics will include this weekend’s Ridgefield-Staples, St. Joseph-Darien matchups and other notable Week 3 games.

Just add your questions in the window below. We’ll try to get to as many as possible within the time frame.

Thanks, and see you there.

    Questions:

Prep freshmen seem to be off to a good start two shut outs. Are they that good? Has the pay to play hurt the Shelton freshmen program? What freshmen programs in the SCC look tough?

  3. Fan Zant says:

Shelton freshman are very strong and will likely handle most opponents rather easily.

shelton frosh lost to ansonia by 3 tds

    Yippee! The Valley’s jump’in tonight. JRB’s'll be rock’in. Ya know what I’m say’in.

  6. High School Football Fan says:

Why is Ansonia playing outside the NVL in frosh level ?

  7. Fan Zant says:

It was a scrimmage. Ray’s all juiced up over it.

  8. Rob says:

So the simple fact that the Ansonia freshman are better than the Shelton freshmann makes you so angry and insecure that you have to bring up JRB’s in an attempt to “shame” Ansonia?

wow – the funny part is that you think Ray is the loser

  9. Fan Zant says:

Rob….sorry to strike a nerve and make you feel less valued. The simple fact is that Ray used a scrimmage as a measuring stick and failed to mention that it was a scrimmage AND NOT A GAME. The JRB ‘s reference was not to shame Ansonia, it’s actually a good, local watering hole/restaurant. By the way, if the Shelton freshman lost all of their games, it wouldn’t make a difference to me…no anger at all.

The won /loss record of a freshman program means nothing. At that level you should be playing everyone, and evaluating. A “LL” progam can have as many as 40 kids of which 50% will not be back (playing football) as 10th graders.

Ansonia is famous for this… their freshman team played ND-WH for many many years (I would guess all thru the 80s and 90s), I’m not sure when they stopped. The Ansonia frosh won the vast majority of those games.

Of course, Ansonia varsity is never willing or able to schedule Shelton or ND-WH.
