Disheartening news out of Trumbull today where Trumbull student newspaper Editor-in-Cheif Brett Rosen reports that senior DB and KR Frank Gaines is out for the season with an ACL injury.
The report was confirmed by one other source at Trumbull High School, but Trumbull coach Bob Maffei denied the report Tuesday evening. “He was supposed to get an MRI. We haven’t heard back yet,” Maffei said. “I hope he’s not out. We’ll see.”
Gaines, one of the FCIAC’s best return men who figured to be a key component in Trumbull’s new offense as a senior, was injured in the second half of Trumbull’s 13-9 victory over Wilton and missed all of last week’s 48-0 victory over Westhill.

Any injury is bad but a senior season ender is devastating. My heart goes out to the player and his family.

This is a big blow for THS prob one of their best WR and skill players. They still have not played anyone i say they go 500 if they are lucky. Heart goes out to Gains though great football player, we will see what trumbull does now.
Gaines are a big football family 2 sons that played at Prep then to 1-aa colleges and a third that went to trumbull high and frank youngest one its a sad story same thing happen to oldest brother at Prep.

Brian – how do you have a qualified opinion on this topic? aren’t you a greenwich fan? Perhaps your better qualified to speak to Coach Albon status. After seeing him in Bowley’s greenwich/norwalk highlight clip – i thought he was going to blow a gasket. Quite a sight! he probably went home and kicked his dog!

yes I am a greenwich fan but the above comment has nothing to do with that. When u have guys Like Albo, Marinelli, and Pretroccio in your league the “new” guy from Trumbull doesn’t rank that high to say he is hands down the best. That is just common sense nothing else.
