7 |
Get used to Brookfield’s stadium, Hawks. Just in case. |

Let me try that whole 50-characters-or-less thing: Can’t wait for the Woodland-Naugy game.
Haha not bad. I don’t think we’ll see an upset in Ansonia-Derby. And I like the upset alert in Xavier-Hillhouse (if that was an upset call, even more credit).
Stamford 27 Central 19: Stamford wins out, just you watch. Even then it may not be enough.
Ansonia 42 Derby 14: Derby may have been better the last couple of weeks. But still, not on Ansonia’s level.
West Haven 30 Hand 20: The game that I’m going to Friday Night, I always forget about Hand every year. West Haven’s speed is too much.
Shelton 28 Amity 6: Two very different 3-3 teams here.
Cross 27 Notre Dame 24: Cross’s season survives for another week. ND’s seasons get flushed further down the toilet.
Xavier 21 Hillhouse 6: Falcons will have some problems on offense. But Hillhouse won’t be able to do a thing on offense.
Cheshire 28 Foran 16: If Schumitz was around Foran could pull a shocker. But he isn’t, and they won’t.
Masuk 42 Bethel 6: You can throw on Bethel, which is what Masuk does best. You can’t run on Masuk, which is what Bethel does best.
Trumbull 27 Danbury 14: The game I’m going to Saturday. Hatters have enough athletes to stay close against a dinged up Trumbull.
St. Joes 35 Warde 13: With Matakevich back you know St. Joe’s will not be resting on their laurels.
New Canaan 34 Wilton 21: A tough Wilton team will give Rams a challenge. I think New Canaan will lose again, just not this week.
Newtown 21 New Fairfield 0: Eventhough they are running on fumes and held together by duct-tape Newtown still hangs on.
Bristol Eastern at Berlin
Battle of unbeatens in the CCC. Can the Lancers contain UConn bound RB Max Delorenzo? I don’t think so. Berlin wins this and then runs the table on the way to a Class M championship.
Valley Regional/Old Lyme at Coginchaug
Two unbeaten teams in the Class S hunt square off. Coginchaug is thriving despite losing their co-op with Vinal Tech, which is causing Valley Regional and Old Lyme to silently look at each other and wonder if they should “see other people.”
Derby at Ansonia
In the 80s, this game meant life and death. This year it’s for the NVL Brass Division title. So, hey, still important. The plucky Red Raiders would love nothing more than to pull the upset on the rival Chargers.
Hand at West Haven
Game of the week in the SCC. West Haven would have to be the favorite at home, but Hand is certainly comfortable playing on the Sound.
Cross at NDWH
At this point, would any result shock you in this game?
Bethel at Masuk
Pomperaug dominated Bethel. Masuk dominated Pomperaug. Masuk continues their reign of terror in the SWC on Homecoming Night.
Sheehan at East Haven
Congrats on snapping the streak Easties! Unfortunately, the CSC portion of the schedule is over.
Xavier at Hillhouse
Masuk will be rooting hard for the Academics in the Friday matinee. Hillhouse has a few athletes, but Xavier may be too tough on defense for that to matter. The Falcons win another pitchers’ duel.
Cheshire at Foran
With their record at 2-4, Cheshire got votes in this week’s poll. It may be time to strip George DeMaio of his vote.
Barlow at Pomperaug
Everyone dismissed Pomperaug after their dismantling at the hands of the best team in the state (that’s right, I said it). But they have quietly gone on to win the rest of their games convincingly and have a good shot at making the playoffs.
Platt Tech at Bullard Havens
Platt Tech got 34 calls last week from teams looking to fill their bye weeks next season. Bullard Havens continues on their path towards stealing a playoff spot.
Fitch at NFA
I realize that this game has major state playoff implications, but I just don’t know a lot about either of these teams. Neither of these teams is in the SCC or the FCIAC, so they probably aren’t very good.
Warde at St. Joseph
If St. Joe’s can keep winning and make the playoffs, they would probably be the favorites to win Class S. After a thrilling victory over Trinity, the Mustangs look to keep the momentum going.
Bassick at Darien
Any fan of CT football should be proud of the Blue Wave. Red Lion came in here expecting to romp and Trifone’s crew represented for all Nutmeggers. Bassick doesn’t start any 8th graders, do they?
Wilton at New Canaan
Don’t count the Rams out just yet.
Bunnell at ND-Ffd
Bulldogs have gotten off track after their hot start. They should get back in the win column this week.
enjoy the games!
Dude i like alot of your picks, cosign trumbull, wilton, not newtown tho,i think nf gets on board once or twice, also i see central winning friday, masuk bethel WONT be the shootout it was last year, and i think il take hand in th semi upset, cuz no scc team ever goes undefeated in that league
Games of Interest:
Central @ Stamford.
Stamford is good. Defense,Speed and I like their QB’s ability to hit the open reciever.
Bethel @ Masuk
Masuk finds a unique way to score 49 point and keep the first team on the field as they score one touch down and kick 14 field goals.
Prep @ Hamden
Is this the week Prep? I think so.
Derby @ Ansonia
Derby keeps it close in the first half but Chargers led by Dobbs run wild in second half. Ray Brown is spotted yawning on sideline as Dobbs scores on an 82 yard run.
Wilbur Cross @ NDWH
NDWH is angry after loss to D2 team but Ward continues to add to their woes. Cross wins a close one on the Turf field.
Amity @ Shelton
Shelton has won 11 of the last 12 games against Amity, that continues tonight.
Barlow @ Pomperaug
Pomperaug continues Cake walk SWC schedule to Class “LL” playoffs.
Hand @ WHHS
Westies running game too much for Tigers. Hand loss puts crimp in possible Hand Vs Masuk match-up in Playoffs. Might be last hope for SCC in Class “L”
Xavier @ Hillhouse
No upset here. Xavier had a tought week at pratice after Shelton scare.
Trumbull @ Danbury
It is amazing how a school with Danbury’s enrollment can have such a poor football program. Trumbull rebounds.
Ward @ St Joes
St Joes has been reborn with Tyler back.
Ridgefield 35 McMahon 7
Central 20 Stamford 14
Trinity 28 North Haven 27
Staples 42 Ludlowe 7
Norwalk 34 Hardind 0
Trumbull 28 Danbury 20
Darien 49 Bassick 0
St. Joe’s 42 Warde 20
New Canaan 35 Wilton 14
Greenwich 49 Westhill 7
I agree with your predictions in the most part except I think ND beats Cross pretty easy.
I was back and forth on the Cross over NDWH. I think that Ward is a bigger factor on a turf field and ND had trouble stopping WHHS’s running attack.
What scares me the most about masuk is,every top team in the region seems to hav eor have had their “down”week,a game thats a touchdown difference or heck even a loss.Masuks down week was a 45-0 or 42-0 win over pomp or bunnell ,u pick. Thats scary, scary good-will bethel provide that “down” week for the panthers? i say no 49-0.
Lets see,i like the defense in this game, they need to put a hold on the west run game or the west will hand them a lose.We shall see if west haven can be all i know they can be at home!Hand is a tough road team, but the west haven wind can play tricks on a team.
Masuk will break the 50 pt.rule tonite just because they can. Happy Homecoming Panther fans,we have fresh wildcat meat for the after party!
New Canaan in a blowout, not even close.Last week ST.Joe’s said their prayers and ate their vitamins to pull off the upset. This week the only thing upset are the rams!
Central and Stamford, may the best gang win,no really this game has street brawl written all over it.These are two very mean smashmouth teams.Stamford pushed trumbull around last week!Enough said.
If McMahon can bring the kind of gameplay they had with the wreckers, then my vote is with the senators for the upset. They must put pass pressure on the ridge to make this one a game, remember the danbury game senators.
This game is the closet to a bye we can give the blue wave.Darien could win this one with their freshman team!
The X-men at the house on the hill. This game could really prove to be a tough step to the playoffs for our heros.
The Gaels just might be the best 3-3 team out there,Go Gaels!!!
Ansonia and Derby, its gonna be a test for the red riders.Pass this exam and get ready for the finals derby.Make no mistake who the real favorite is-ANSONIA!!Good battle of the valley bowl!!
Have fun at the games tonite, dress warm have some fun, play a little 50/50 raffle, its all good times under the friday nite lights. My game is gonna be the masuk homecoming.Gotta go support the team,see-ya!!
i still cant believe how the haters come out against NC for a one point loss. i can understand last year with the beating they took against central, but the rams could have and should have one that game despite a terrible 3 quarters. nc blows out wilton 40 something to 7.
Masuk is the best team in the state.
NC shouldnt have won St joes should have buried them when they were up 21-7 but dumb mistakes took that chance away. St joes should have won 41-21 sorry to tell you NC is not that good or as good as everyone thinks. Dont get me wrong but they arent any better then St joes staples ridgefield and i guess you could say darien. NC will beat darien though i will give them that.
Good call @ R-MAC
McMahon: 21
Ridgefield: 12
NC will run the table here on out. they will beat masuk in the first round of the playoffs because they will be 8th seed and masuk will be 1st.
good call to truth on New Canaan beating Wilton 40something to 7. Good call kind sir.
New Canaan should be ranked higher!
