The stars will be out when the CIAC state football semifinals, featuring eight regional teams, commence today at select football stadiums near you. From left to right, Montrell Dobbs of Ansonia, Brian Kelly of Brookfield, Ian Milne of Trumbull, Matt Milano of New Canaan, Tyler Matakevich of St. Joseph, Chris Allam of Darien and Jon Testani of Masuk.

Good morning, afternoon or evening from wherever you are.

Welcome to Tournament Central. Centro del Torneo.

Welcome to our own personal NORAD for the Connecticut high school football world, the place where you can track everything happening in today’s state football semifinal round.

You’re not going to find a better spot to witness all of the action than right here.

Today the hard-working staff of Connecticut Post, Stamford Advocate and Danbury News-Times will be covering six of the regional state semifinal games, complete with stories, photos and videos as the day goes on and complete recaps at the end of the evening.

We’ve been given access to the webcasts from six games by the good folks at who will be broadcasting the game and, which will be filming them for the CTSN broadcasts later on.
Three of them are live video streams, three more are audio broadcasts. The only games not being broadcast are Trumbull-NFA and Brookfield-New London.

However, you can still follow everything on our weekly live scoring update blog at the bottom of this page.

SPB – you are awesome! Thanks

  2. Kyle_25 says:

ever since they beat central in week 4 i’ve kept up with phil terio on how trumbull was doing much love & respect to them i hope they bring the LL trophy home

that darien masuk game wasn’t the marquee game that it was hyped up to be was it? i dont think so!

& what a game for montrell dobbs! so much for ansonia’s young defense!!

  3. another fan says:

congrats Ansonia, I had doubts after pre-season but this is why I love this game!

  4. RAY BROWN says:

great job by brockett and chargers—–thought montville would have edge espeacially after bad turkey day showing.but young chargers dominated montville and montrell dobbs showed why hes the best back in state —bar none.casey cochrane did a great job directing best team in state and deserved gatorade award—-but without a doubt montrell dobbs is the states offensive player of year.

  5. Ansonia Fan says:

    Montrell Dobbs 38 carries 395 yards and 5 TD’s

  6. JB says:

SPB … good video feed. My finals:

LL Trumbull vs Xavier Slug fest. Trumbull wins 14-12

L New Canaan vs Masuk Exactly the opposite from LL. Masuk wins 41-38

M New London vs Hillhouse Toss-up. New London wins 30-28

S St Joe vs Ansonia Dobbs is a beast. Ansonia wins 35-21

  7. Sj Fan says:

Everyone always talks about Dobbs like hes some God. Yes, he is one of if not the best player in the state, but he’s all Ansonia’s got. SJ has so much more depth in their program with Matakevich, Dellavecchia, Mulligan, Kramer and Hunt. One person can’t win someone a State Championship and Dobbs is all Ansonia’s got. Sj wins hands down 35-21

  8. Sj Fan says:

And also guaranteed Sj defense is all over Dobbs, he won’t do much.

  9. gman says:

#7 Remember what you said “one man can’t win a state title”. DOBBS can and will unless coach DEL puts 9 in the box.

  10. Sj Fan says:

#9, Not one person can carry a whole team to a state title. Dobbs might have carried Ansonia through crappy NVL play, when Ansonia actually plays a good team like St.Joes they’ll get a rude awakening.

  11. spreadofan12 says:

Sj Fan why am I not surprised that such nonsense is coming from a Sj fan. Ansonia has matos, newsome, larovera,o’Connor, hall, mason and many other good guys. Actually know what your talking about before you speak. You haven’t met Dobbs and don’t know the kind of kid or player he is. He has a good line, and if anyone can lead their team to a championship is him, you’d be wise not to bet against him

  12. What!!! says:

SJ people. Stay off the blogs. Let the Ansonia guys have the boards. There is no need to talk about how good you are. Just show it on the field. Leave the talking to them!!!

  13. jeb says:

In the first minute of the St.Joes-Ansonia game we will be able tell if Ansonia is going to win. Lets see what kind of defense Joes is in to stop DOBBS. Excuse me, MR. DOBBS. If Joes plays a straight up defense then Dobbs will score seven touchdowns. If they stack the box Joes will win. It’s not that complicated fellas.

  14. always bleed blue says:

The [deleted] nvl conference you here that year in and year out…wait how many state titles does saint joes have thats right not 16 like the ansonia chargers if we were that bad and that bad of a program we wouldnt have the most state championships in the state of ct i think that speaks enough for itself…yes i do believe this is a down year for the chargers considering the team they had that went back to back number one in the state in 06 and 07 no one in the state would have beaten that team however i believe the coaching staff will have the game plan to win this game and will have the players ready to perform it doesnt matter whos better on paper it matter who wants it more on the field

  15. Ffld says:

#12.Um, pretty sure this is a public blog and anyone is allowed to write on it. If you have such a problem with SJ people writing on here than dont look at it. We’ll see who the real state champ is Saturday night

  16. Don c says:

Once again the SCC has 2 state champions. Fciac better hope ST. Joes can get past Ansonia. Fciac is a joke.

  17. Don c says:

And watch spb’s video of ndwh vs ansonia preseason. I know it was preseason, but it looked like a varsity-jv game. And ndwh didn’t make the playoffs, had 3 losses in the SCC, and 6 other SCC teams made the playoffs. Ansonia is a cute SS team beating other SS teams!
