2010 Walter Camp All-Connecticut Team

by:

The 2010 Walter Camp All-Connecticut team was unveiled today at the Walter Camp Football Foundation’s Breakfast of Champions — which honors the four state championship teams from the state — at Anthony’s Ocean View in New Haven.

Masuk coach John Murphy was honored as the Foundation’s Coach of the Year after a 13-0, Class L championship season. Hillhouse’s Tom Dyer and Xavier’s Sean Marinan were finalists.

The state Player of the Year is Masuk junior QB Casey Cochran, who threw for 3,345 yards
and 40 touchdowns for the Class L champions. (Ansonia’s Montrell Dobbs and New Canaan’s Kevin Macari were finalists.)

The lifetime achievement award went to former Hand coach Larry Ciotti, who compiled a 141-42-2 record and won five state championships over 19 seasons.

    Brenden Lytton’s season > Girard-Floyd’s season

I am a firm believer that some kids get selected just because they are in the media more than others.

Anyhow, congratulations to all of the winners and finalists! Spectacular jobs this season.

According to Maxpreps.com Mitchell King had 1 punt inside the 20 compared to the 10 Jason Mawicke had throughout the year including 5 of them inside the 5 yard line. But then again MItchell King obviously deserves it for having a 38.7 yard average courtesy of Maxpreps.com.

I dont understand some picks, there are a few players that did not make the All state first team, but made the all walter camp team. Then there are players who earned All state first team but were left out of the Walter camp team, sounds like politics again??????

  4. James says:

I don’t get it, HSfoot. Do you want the teams to be identical?

According to Titletown on the NVL Blog – the Ansonia team is not working hard at all in the off season, and feels they can just roll into next season and be successful. That’s what happens in the NVL – you can sit on your butts all off season and roll to 8-10 wins based on the crappy competition.

Here is the exact quote from Titletown – the loser needs to bring up 2006 in every post. Get over it. Is THIS what Ansonia Football is all about? Maybe the new playoff format has them feeling a little exposed….

Getting back to next year(ironic) I wanted to say I was talking to one of the coaches for Ansonia this past weekend and he’s suprised as to why everyone is thinking they are going to dominate next year. Their D-Line got no push and couldnt block anyone in the Ansonia/St Joes game and even look at the naugy game. He said it’s up to the kids as to how good they are going to be. I know one of the lineman, not going to mention his name, goes to a workout facility and sits on the bench and talks the whole time. With all these distractions kids have now a days this team has to take this offseason seriously. I played on the 2006 team and the year before we went 7-3 and missed the playoffs, we took the offseason like it was the regular season. The off-season workouts are not to be taken lightly I dont think these kids get that to me they seem like they dont care. They arent going to be given anything and certainly should not expect to be dominant if they arent taking it upon themselves to get ready for this upcoming season. These kids, cause thats what they still are, better wake up and get serious. This is Ansonia, not Wolcott.
