Norwalk High School will announce its next football coach today (Friday) in a 1:45 p.m. press conference.
There has been rampant speculation over who will get the job. The frontrunner is considered to be assistant coach Sean Ireland, but that Darien defensive coordinator Idris Price, who was an all-state player at McMahon, and former Wilton coach Tim Eagen, were also in the running — or, at least, have been rumored to have significant interest in the job.
Athletic director Wayne Mones has kept his cards pretty close to his vest, telling the Norwalk Citizen that he won’t inform his hire until just before the press conference.
We’ll have the information for everyone as soon as the announcement is made.

Give it to Sean. He deserves it.
Why does he deserve it? Because he has been part of a losing program the last 5 years. Because as the offensive coordinator he has produced a putrid offense. If he is hired, it will just be more of the same – losing program. Time to clean house and start over.
Take it easy Jim. Jim do you see there schedule every year? Its brutal. Looking at there schedule the only bad lose they had this year was Stamford High. And thats not even that bad of a lose. Not to mention the finally beat Greenwich this year. I know Greenwich was down this year but still. And I’m sure you know as well as I know, if you dont have the weapons on offense you are going to struggle.
It’s norwalk, a LL school. They do have athletes, they need someone who can recruit within the school to get those athletes on the field. More of the same in the short-term but perhaps his presence as a teacher in the school will lead to more athletes coming out in the future.
