Back in Week 3, the SNY show ‘Traditions’ paid a visit to Dunning Field to take a inside look at the New Canaan football program.
A month later, the camera crews returned to Connecticut and headed over to The Valley, because, let’s face it, you can’t talk about proud and strong high school football programs in Connecticut without talking about Ansonia.
Today, Ansonia makes it debut on the weekly feature produced by Drew Thorry‘s Five x Five Productions and shown on SNY every Sunday at noon.
The crews talked to Ansonia stars, past and present, and followed this year’s football players and coaches leading up to and into the school’s game vs. Watertown.
You can get a sneak peak by visiting the Traditions website here, or by clicking the logo above.

SPB – Thanks for the alert. Really enjoyed it! Nice job by SNY – Traditions.
Boy Watertown looked like a really competive team!!
Hey Bernie, there are only a friggin handfull of teams in the state of CT that are competitive with Ansonia…….I’ll bet you never even saw them play this year or over the last 10-20yrs….Let me guess, your from Fairfield County….don’t choke on the silver spoon in your mouth you were born with…
NICE PIECE BY SNY,ITS SEEMS LIKE A LOT OF PEOPLE KNEW ,WHAT ANSONIA FANS HAVE KNOWN FOR A LONG TIME.
Congrats to Ansonia High School for a well deserved tribute. The Chargers have always been a class program with a great student body and community support.
Personally, I thought the show was disappointing. Felt the same way about the New Canaan episode. I think the idea of it is great and they could have done so much more with it. Those were the only two episodes I watched. Such great programs with TONS of tradition and history. Just wish it was more in depth. Maybe if it was an hour long.
hey, papa dags.. ansonia blows
Hay volderdork you must be a joke. Who do you like. Probably a Masuk fan
Typical boy from Fairfield County actually referring to himself as some type of lord….sounds more like a court jester……..Moron
Not to mention that ansonia wasnt even going to be featured on traditions until a school from NY backed out right before the season started. @bernie good looks
Not a lot of teams look like competetive teams against Ansonia, Bernie.
@Shooter- I agree with you on all except the student body. Go to a game and see if you can find the student section in the bleachers. If you do, you’ll have a lot of leg room. It’s disappointing to say the least. People have gotten spoiled with them winning so much, and its tough to draw a crowd when everybody knows the outcome in advance.
@Voldemort- Very original. Did you come up with that by yourself or do you have someone write your material?
Did not get a chance to see, hope it is online somewhere. Have a family football history at AHS back to the 1920′s. My grandfather played with “Boots” Jarvis. To have played a game to the level AHS has over the years, is extraordinary; matching other like programs around the country. Go Lavender, Go Blue, Go Chargers!
Hey Sean, really proud of our kids… can’t wait to wreck the Tigers tomorrow they can’t compete with our kids. Staples pride will dominate Ridgefield. Looking forward to the final with xavier.
Ansonia has my respect for the discipline they put into there football programs year in and year out. I expect them to win the state title with their relentless ground assault. Nice that they have been noticed in such a way.
Hey Wreckers fan, No you are not!
voldedork your just a jelous boy in your moms basement. Probably a dork rich Fairfield couny boy.Come up to Jarvis and watch the class M champs do there thing.
“Lord Voldemort”?! Really??
Your posting name is based on a character in novels and movies for children? Based on your juvenile postings, it figures.
Now go give Mommy her laptop back!
ALL: Enough with the petty insults and name-calling. This isn’t kindergarden.
No more will be published. Give us all a break with this crap.
