We’re pulling out the weekly Guide to the Games for all the state quarterfinals.
A guide for out-of-region games is a first for me at Connecticut Post. So consider this a treat.

Ned Says: Xavier, Masuk, Ansonia, Holy Cross

Does NH have a 60-play, 48 min drive? Good one!
However, if they started at the 1YL and went 2.5 yards per play they score after 40 plays. So they would need to plan 50 yards in penalties to get to the 60 play mark.
Class S is very, very weak
@SPB NWC’s record is 8-2, not 9-1.
Whoops. Typo.
One more time for what its worth, Masuk is the Best Team iiun the state. I get around to see a lot of Highschool football in the tri-state area. I have friends who scout the Northeast and affiliations with Don Bosco Prep out of Bergan N.J. , what the Masuk Panthers have done last year and again this year with Casey does deserve RESPECT. The X- Men would not stop their offense.
The X men and their army of media WILL NOT change their votes. Just look at Mr. Ned posing with the Falcon. If last years 6 close games they played did not dethrone them, this years run through the weakest class LL in years will not either. All those shoreline voters vote as a pack.
Most of the fat should be cut tonight after the Pequot & 2 fraud #1 seeds in Windsor and Capital Prep go away. Now if Fleeting can go steal a few Capital Prep kids, he can have a Hartford all star team..er I mean good Windsor team.
Masuk got tested by North Haven and won, but not nearly by the margin they are used to…Xavier rolled, as did Ansonia…In LL, it’s hard to figure Staples or Norwalk…Do either have a shot at knocking off Xavier, if they get there?..I think, no way.
How bout them NVL boys!!!
All I kept thinking about at the Masuk game last night was if North Haven can run the ball on Masuk then what would Ansonia or Xavier do to them. I was on Masuks bandwagon from the get go but after watching North haven grind out yards it appears that Xavier is by far the best team in the state. Masuk should have no trouble winning the Class L though. They will put a hurtin on Hand and possibly NEW Canaan/Windsor winner. Nc doesn’t have the athletes to match up with the panthers.
Hey r- Mac – how many times have you seen Xavier play? I have seen both several times this year – Masuk may score some but do you really think Masuk’s D keeps Xavier out of the end zone? No way – they have too much speed all over the field on offense. Xavier’s D is outstanding and as well as Casey throws he is not particularly mobile – the X D would tee off on Masuk’s O line – 35/14 Xavier.
Went to see Xavier for the first time to see what all the fuss is about. Watched from directly behind the goal posts. My buddy who had seen them 3 times this year wanted to sit there so that I could watch the the O-line operate. I have never seen an offensive line on the high school level this physical and this robotic. They were pancaking guys everywhere and Mastroiani was as physical as the guys blocking for him. There was no place safe for Glastonbury players even well downfield and away from the play. I have seen Xavier play for about 40 years and have seen them against some of the best competition in the state and can honestly say that this team is not a team that any team in the state should look forward to playing. Have no dog in this fight concerning Masuk vs. Xavier and have not seen Masuk but can’t picture any team in the state beating the Xavier team that I saw last night. Left game with 2 min. to go in the 3rd and Glastonbury at that point had a net -1 yard. Ya, the Xavier D is even better than the O!!!
@shooter
didnt most people also say that new canaan didnt have the athletes to matchup with New London? I wouldnt ever count new canaan out of any game. you are probably correct but that should be one of those to yourself thoughts and not an out loud one.
dont give nc’s kids bullitin board material
