  1. GuyD says:

How did Vega and Broderick get ahead of the kid from Ridgefield? He had the 2nd most passing yds in the fciac and a better completion rating than both of those kids…not to mention they actually made it to playoffs

  2. tp says:

    wow…did they miss anybody?

  3. What!!! says:

The 3 division set up for All-FCIAC is ridiculous. It diminishes the team. I hope they go back to just a 1st and 2nd team for the entire conference

  4. JB says:

Sean, any insights on how the FCIAC does this … is it a head coaches ballot/vote? Also, how does the East and Central have 33 first teamers while the West has only 26? From ties in the vote?

  5. @JB – I throw my hands up at the FCIAC all-conference teams. It’s insanity.

  6. HSfootball says:

SPB – you should post the kids that did not make the team. The list would be smaller.

  7. No Axe to Grind says:

Dang…does anyone NOT make an All-FCIAC Team. I think that I may have gotten an Honorable Mention…let me double check…That is crazy…

  8. JB says:

The SCC’s first team size, about 15 offense and 15 defense per division, is about the same as for the FCIAC first teams. However, the FCIAC has three divisions instead of two for the SCC.

But then the FCIAC publishes a second team and honorable mention for each division (which the SCC does not) – that makes the lists look really crazy.

Both conferences must use a ballot put forth by each head coach of his team’s top candidates and then there must be a vote by the division head coaches. Just curious if anyone knows if that is the process used.

  9. Just Another Fan says:

I hate how the FCIAC does their all league teams. Some of these kids don’t deserve to be on this list

  10. ND Jim says:

I guess the “everyone gets a trophy” mentality exists in the FCIAC.
Ridiculous! It diminishes the award for everyone.

  11. John says:

Mother of God it’s like 3rd grade house basketball in the FCIAC everythong gets a trophy! It really takes away from the top kids who really deserved recognition.

  12. Tigers25 says:

Looking through the all fciac central. Nice job by the league picking this one. Ridgefield and norwalk were well represented. It’s great to see those kids get what they’ve earned. At least half of them should be looking at big time offers from colleges this spring. Those awards look great for high school athletes. Remember guys, steve young was in your shoes many years ago… Could be your turn. Keep working and reaching for the stars.

  13. Pat McGroin says:

Love how this is done. The only thing I would add to this is 1 All-FCIAC team. But I would keep all of this. You guys are crazy to think this is to many people. If you ask any of these kids if this list diminishes their award and recognition they’d say you are crazy. There are plenty of kids out there that deserve it to be recognized and this is a great forum to do so.

Great job by the Head Coaches. The other side of this is – How could Jimmy not make it!! He was sooooo goooood!

This will only help young athletes strive to make this team, and move up the ladder. Also helps for college recruiting.

  14. 3 for you, 2 for me says:

One league’s All-League voting is a joke because there is no “voting”. Each coach sits at the table with a list of his players he wants on the team. The coach with the best record goes first and gets to put 3 kids on the team, the coach with the next best record gets 2 kids, and so on until each coach gets at least one kid on the team. Then the cycle restarts with the coach with the best record adding 2 more kids, the next best with 2 more, etc.

Congratulations are in order to those kids that truly deserve the honor, but there are a few that make the team only because there is an edict that every team be represented with at least one kid. I feel badly for the kids that deserve the honor of all-league, but are left off the team because there are no spots left.

On the other hand, the CHSCA teams are voted upon by the coaches and submitted by all 130+ schools. There is no voting for your own player. This is the way All-Star teams should be selected.

Again, congrats to all State Championship winning teams, all All-State kids, and especially SPB, you do an awesome job.

  15. Master Legend says:

I didn’t know they made 9th place ribbons.

Oh yeah, Jack. They have ‘em all the way up to 10th!

  16. Master Legend says:

21 players from New Canaan made some level of All FCIAC. These aren’t watered down at all.

  17. Football Fan says:

Helps for college recruiting?? Yeah, college recruits are banging down doors for kids who are Honorable Mentions…SCC does a great job selecting a team…FCIAC, please take note…this doesn’t help us as a league!!

  18. RAY BROWN says:

WHY DONT THEY PUT EVERYONE ON.

  19. Fishin says:

Ya it helps with College Recruiting. I’ll say it again, yes, it helps with College Recruiting.

Especially when College coaches come into high schools and head coaches give them a list of the All-League Teams…So yes, honorable mentions, crap mentions and kind of mentions help with college recruiting.

  20. Tigers25 says:

In my many years of watching hsf, i can tell you it does matter. Are you telling me it didnt matter for guys like steve young and dwight freeney. Youre dreaming if you think it didnt.

  21. Master Legend says:

BYU Coach #1- “We should recruit Steve Young.”
BYU Coach #2- “No. He’s from Connecticut, so he must stink.”
BYU Coach #1- “But he made All FCIAC!”
BYU Coach #2- “Can’t argue with that. Let’s give him a scholarship.”

  22. Tigers25 says:

Probably more to it than that. But i do agree master legend, that more than likely came up in conversation. Something similar to freeney making all ccc. You agree?

  23. Davon Wavon says:

Glad to see Ansonia transfer Davon Johnson made All-FCIAC. Due to his family’s move to Bridgeport, Davon couldn’t finish up his Senior year on the gridiron at Ansonia with a state title, but was able to contribute for Bassick.

  24. Master Legend says:

@tigers25- I hope you’re serious about this. Now people will know that you’re a moron and can stop paying attention to your posts.

So people transfer OUT of Ansonia too?? How come nobody is crying foul about that A-Town to Bassick pipeline?? I didn’t hear of any Masuk kids transferring to Immaculate.

  25. Tigers25 says:

Far from a moron. I am very successful in my law practice. Why is what I said, so bad to you?

  26. Big Fish@ Little Sea says:

@#21 BYU Coach#3 Lets give Steve Young a scholarship because he is a distant relative of Brigham Young..True story I believe about the family tree

  27. ? says:

Davon Johnson played against Torrington in week 1 for Ansonia. How did he end up playing at Bassick a week later?

  28. Master Legend says:

So your argument is that if Dwight Freeney had not made All-CCC, he would be working at Planet Fitness right now instead of playing for the Colts?

I have heard the same about Steve Young being related to Brigham Young. It’s a wonder that BYU gets good college athletes for any sports. You can have the greatest facilities and fans in the world, but not being able to plow chicks has to be a huge drawback.

  29. Joesph Turner says:

That kid Jahaad Williams was a stud and shocked me the way he burst on the scene..WOW!!! he’s just a JR

  30. Joesph Turner says:

    http://footballstarsoftomorrow.com/player.php?pid=609

look at this kid jahaad without really playing offense a defensive beast!!!
