To kick off the first scrimmage week, we headed over to Route 108 to partake in a pair of practices Saturday. We started at Shelton and then hit West Haven at St. Joseph.
It was more of a fact-finding mission, first of the year, in preparation for our SCC Pressing Questions bit which will be out today.
Any video attempts, however, were curtailed when I locked my keys and my trusty satchel, video camera included, in my car at St. Joseph.
Thanks to the St. Joseph seniors who retrieved my keys and opened the door. But that was after the scrimmage. So no highlights. All we can say is both West Haven and St. Joseph matched up pretty well, but didn’t surprise. We know St. Joseph will be better this year. We know West Haven will revolve around back Ervin Phillips.
But — lookit this — RickVolk21 was out at Madison checking out Hand, Berlin and Central.
Everyone give Rick a pat on the back by checking it out. We’re sure he’ll have more vids to peruse in the coming week.
Enjoy.

Three letters – AAA!
what scrimmages you hitting this week you going to stratford-trumbull tuesday at trumbull?
To be perfectly honest, I might be very limited with scrimmage videos. I’d rather get cool stuff and make preview vids…
Pains me to say it but……Berlin should have a very strong year this year with massive line and good skill guys. They will be major player in traditionally weak Class M.
at berlin-hand-bridgeport central scrimage. berlin looked rather impressive and probably the best followed by hand. However, it was clear that hand was caught off guard due to multiple starters out because of injuries. The hand qb I heard was a dual threat, however was not allowed to run. BPC offense looked rather impressive, but a rather sub-par defense. All in all berlin looks pretty good and hand should be back to the top once they straighten out (injuries & qb allowed to show his athleticism), BPC still has some work to do.
CCC is up this year, Berlin, Windsor, and Southington can all stake a claim as legit top 10 teams in state, curious about New Britain and Glastonbury as well
