Not only was it the Lions’ first victory over an SCC Division I team since 2004 (their first year in the league and the first year of the SCC’s two division alignment), it was also Foran’s *first* victory over Notre Dame in school history. We’re told that last part is incorrect. Foran beat Notre Dame in 1995 (see comments). Verification? Update: Yes, we have verification. Foran beat Notre Dame 16-15 in 1995.
Anyway…
It was so exciting for the Foran players, Foran coach Jeff Bevino was forced to buy a ‘celebratory’ iPhone5.
His old phone was destroyed during the delirious postgame celebrations when his players dunked him with water.
Foran (4-2) has a bye and plays North Haven in a suddenly big SCC Division II game next week.
Just an FYI Foran beat ND West Haven in 1995 @ quigly field.

I have one correction: Foran does not play North Haven this week. Foran has a week off, they will play (a still suddenly big) game with North Haven NEXT week.

And I verified (took quite a while search on Hartford Courant) Foran did beat Notre Dame West Haven in 1995 by 16-15. I guess people assume since Foran didn’t beat NDWH when they were state champions (1994) they never beat ND.
But it is the first time they beat NDWH after Foran joined SCC
First win since SCC, yes, but foran beat nd in 1977, the lions were 9-1 that year only loss to Hand (who went on to win class m title). That one was a real shocker b/c foran had only been open for 3 years or so.
