I find it interesting and laughable that you want to oust the guy who fires the cannon and defend the leadership of the program. It surely appears that the head coach abandoned the PADS philosophy long before the cannon guy bailed on packing his powder after suffering through seven unanswered St. Joes touchdowns. You surely must be related to Bob Maffei to defend him and the product he has put out for the last how many years now? Mediocre work ethic equals mediocre at best product.

I am a long time Trumbull Football fan and a parent of former Trumbull students. Our Cannon Guy refers to himself as “Rocco”. Alot of fans look forward to hearing our cannon “OLD YELLER” at every home game. Just wondering why you deserted your cannon during the St.Joes game? When we finally scored, and it took us a while, I was eager to hear ” OLD YELLER ” howl on another beautiful fall evening in New England. I looked to “Old Yeller” in the end zone and she was gone, as was “ROCCO” Such a HUGE disappointment, “ROCCO”. We did score 3 TDs in the 2nd half. All us die hard THS fans missed hearing “Old Yeller” boom away after the first THS touchdown in the end of the 3rd quarter. Aren’t THS touchdowns the reason for firing up “Old Yeller”? Isn’t that your big contribution to the game and a passion of yours? Did you give up on the team? Or maybe your just one of those guys who never played the game, or coached the game, but thinks he is funny with sarcastic comments like you posted on this blog . I thought about your ticket price comment. I guess it makes sense to me now, tickets were $5 if they were bought before gameday and $7 at the door. Not $6 as you stated in your glorious opinion of Trumbull Football and Bob Maffei. But, since you are the Cannon Guy, I’m willing to believe you don’t pay to get in anyways and you even get an end zone seat, so why would you even know the price of the ticket. It seems to me, “Rocco”, you don’t have your facts straight. Are you insinuating the THS Football players play like 11 folding chairs? It sure sounds that way to me. See at THS football games, everyone knows who the “Cannon Guy ” is.It’s a very prestigous and sought after job.I hold that “Cannon Guy” in high regard as do many others who you have been going to games for a long time like myself. Coach Maffei and his staff have done all they could to win this year. Rocco, thanks for being a TEAM player. Are u miserable, frustrated,or just simply lack intelligence? I bet it’s all of the above. Write and hide Rocco, but your cover has been blown. Why don’t you stick to what you do best, like firing off the cannon, not firing off your mouth on a High School Football blog. Happy Thanksgiving, “Rocco” aka “Cannon Guy.” Congratulations. Everyone now knows who “Rocco” is. Trumbull Football appreciates your loyal and positive support towards the program, the coaches, and most importantly the kids. We don’t need people like you supporting Trumbull Football. I guess the old saying is true, “misery loves company” I think it’s time for a changing of the guard for “Old Yeller.” Trumbull Football and “Old Yeller” deserve better.

It looked like Masuk’s defense had no life in it on the go ahead TD. Too many Masuk players going both ways. Milone had Copper in the backfield but arm tackled him. Same with second defender. Poor tackling form on part of Masuk. No one on Masuk likes to hit with the pads. Once again, Masuk is a one dimensional offensive team. Key on Milone and they are toast. Hand did the same thing last year with Milone in the semis. They took him (no TD’s and negligible yardage) and the other receivers out of the game and that’s all she wrote

Sean, any chance I can call Bob Maffei and get my $6 back? I don’t think the game would have been much worse if they put 11 folding chairs on the field instead of the THS defense.

Looks like masuk wasn’t as good as everybody thought! Newtown had a good game plan but still just another SWC team they beat. Lets see what they can do against the big league champs before crowning them the next NE Patriot dynasty.

Great job tonight by the Nighthawks…future is bright for Newtown. Not many HS teams starting 3 sophomores that can go 10-0 and beat a team like Masuk. Respect is earned and the Nighthawks are on their way…SWC or in any league this is a very good team…LL playoffs await and anything is possible for this group…Good Luck Hawks.
