Welcome to the everyone gets an award league. This is comical. Isn’t suppossed to be All-CONFERENCE, not All-Division. Don’t begin to justify this by saying more kids get recognized. This completely diminishes the accomplishment. Heck, I think I saw St. Joe’s water boy made honorable mention. Good football FCIAC, comlte mockery of all conference awards.
At least they made teams unlike the SWC naming everyone and their mother regardless of position
Hahahahaha. Way to defend this silliness josh…with more silliness. You get ‘em josh. Hahahahaha
ill give them that they named positions, however having 6 all whatever you want to call it qbs is a bit much, what is it 12 overall? in order to have an honorable mention they would have to use jv guys.
why is this so hard? you have an ALL CONFERENCE TEAM thats one guy from the ENTIRE conference for each position. they are the elite, the difference makers… the all conference.
THEN you do a team for each division, which i will add there are too many of to begin with. throw in a handful of kids as honorable mention and call it a day.
the jv qb can rest comfortably knowing that he can work hard and make varsity and hopefully make the list next year.
Wouldn’t it just be easier to list the players who didn’t make any of these lists? Since these lists mean absolutely nothing. I though the idea of everyone getting an award ended in t-ball.
@bball fan, you are absolutely right. I can only imagine how the kids feel who did NOT make the team. Instead of making it an honor to be on the team, its almost a disgrace NOT to make it
No wonder everyone thinks the FCIAC is so dominant. If you look at their rosters, everyone is all FCIAC. But then you realize, EVERYONE is in fact all FCIAC. SCC had 3 of 4 state champions, FCIAC 0. Nuff said.
Kids in FCIAC believe their own pub. SCC believes in winning.
Not defending it, it’s pretty bad, but it ain’t the worst out there
Congratulations to those who deserved the awards, Now…when will we stop this madness? Football is a game of inches, measured by blood, sweat and tears. The dedication and commitment is deminished by this “soccer mom” mentality of participation awards. 50 point rule? don’t want to be embarrassed? Too Bad, get better..put in the effort. Coach could you call the CIAC and have them postpone the game? It’s cold and raining out and I’m not sure my parents want to drive the Range Rover in this weather? Football teaches life lessons so that maybe someday the players can reflect back on their accomplishments and apply them to real life scenerios. What we have accomplished is real life excuses. If this is the way of Ct Football let’s go all the way and name The All-Conference Chain Crews? All Conference Concession Stand? All Conference parking crews? I vote, no more tickets at the gate, everyone gets an attendance trophy!!!
Ah jeez, you’re back to chewin on FCIAC garbage already ? Just make it to Rentschler in ’13, blowhards !
just going over some numbers.. the FCIAC means to tell me that Danbury, a 2-8 team.. had 9 kids on their team who were amongst the best in the conference? I don’t mean to take anything away from the players or anything, but this is just ridiculous.
This is mainly a popularity contest. If stats were taking into account, some of the players who are in the Honorable Mention category would be at least on the second team, and some of the players who are on the first team would drop down. It seems like the coaches pick the names they see in the news the most.
[...]
How is it possible to make All-FCIAC team when you have been injured most of the year? It would be like Lebron being named MVP having played only half the basketball season.
Denzel Mozcuva’s last name is misspelled. The correct spelling is Moscova. I assume that is why the coaches could not figure out who that was.
Hey FCIAC: You forgot to put the waterboys on the all league team!
a change needs to be made . they need to have a overall all fciac team with 1 kid at qb 2 rbs , 2wr’s 5 o-lineman and so on . then they can have your all division teams with still the same concept . scrap the 2nd team and Honorable mention crap
Danbury was 3-7 (Westhill had to forfeit) don’t take any wins away from us! I think everyone that plays t-ball/football should get a trophy.
250 or so “honorees?”
My kid was an honorable OL mention years ago. I appreciate that they recognized he started for two years, his QB was sacked once all season, and his team won the state championship.
If the list is meaningless to you, stop reading it. However, getting a mention is something you can carry the rest of your life as a reminder you accomplished something.
Keep the list big! It seems to tick off judgemental, nasty people.
Guys, WHO CARES? If you don’t like the list, don’t assume that it was written for you…..Skip it and move on.
That said, I think there is an error. There is a kid from Westhill who just earned his 7th straight Honorable Mention. Can you coaches wake up and recognize him for his accomplishments already!
GHS Fan…. Starting for 2 years is what Varsity Letters from his school are for. When you consider many of the possible starters in the league play both ways, about 2/3 of the league’s starters are on this list. What is the purpose of the list? It’s like having the school’s honor roll include every one with a C average. Congrats for showing up for class and doing your homework. I guess if it made you feel good, good for you. Look at the SCC, they have just as many teams as the FCIAC and they honor 1/3 of the players the FCIAC does.
It should be very simple. Each coach votes for 1 or 2 kids per position, the highest vote getter is first team and 2nd highest is 2nd team.
I would like to see more people of color represented on this list. It is inexdupitiosly clear that these fciac coaches are damn biggots. These awards simply do not represent what we look like as a society today.
These crackers wouldn’t know an all star from a jelly jar. A first team from a day dream. I say no justice no peace, no trophy that’s pokey.
When should we expect the All-State Teams to be released?
bball fan – people showing up here to complain about a list they do not read or care about is just sheer nastiness.
There is no other reason to show up here and bellyache about a list honoring players for their contributions being too long.
This coming from the same guy who wants SPREADSHEETS on every penalty that every ref calls every year! The same guy who CRUCIFIES referees!
Talk about nastiness!
Pot—Kettle—Black……………….nastiness?
got a problem – start a blog – name your own all conference teams. problem solved, except the blog traffic, or lack there of.
Dave Lib – There you are!
I see, you are the referee apologist who thinks the reffing in Connecticut is just superlative – eh?
I think you need new glasses – like many of the refs.
Is McMurray at Greenwich really a junior? If so, watch out all FCIAC teams next year. Also I thought the guy at Staples was Kyle Vaughn not Ryan? Seems like a lot of these weights are whacky too. Congrats to all regardless.
@Eddie…I’m almost certain McMurray is graduating, but don’t worry it’s a big family, like the Dunsters, and I’d bet that there are other good McMurray & Dunster kids coming up thru the pipeline…
Without refs, you can’t play the game. And yes, I’m defending them….who else is going to ref? Stop complaining…you’re giving good GHS fans everywhere a bad name.
Happy holidays!
If that wide out from harding jahaad williams doesnt make the all-state roster somethings really wrong with ct football
