Milford resident and assistant coach Ted Boynton is expected to be named the next head coach at Notre Dame-Fairfield, according to a source.
Notre Dame athletic director Rob Bleggi did not return a phone message left Sunday afternoon. On Friday, however, Bleggi confirmed Notre Dame had made a hire but wouldn’t make the official announcement until Monday.
Boynton, who could not be reached for comment, is a paraprofessional at Jonathan Law, according to that school’s website. He has been an assistant at Notre Dame since the Jeff Bevino’s time there from 1999-2005.
Boynton would be the sixth football coach at Notre Dame since 2005, Bevino’s final year. He’ll take over for Dawon Dicks, who was fired after one season.
Notre Dame is 19-52 under four coaches since 2006: Jason Hart (three years), Joe Beler (two), Rico Brogna (one) and Dawon Dicks (one). It hasn’t won more than three games in a season since 2008.
The Lancers were 1-9 last year.
