Watch: North Haven boy who needs heart shows great heart at Indians scrimmage

Well, this was just tremendous.

No, no, it was waaaaay better than that.

Every season, North Haven’s football team donates the proceeds of its annual ‘Spring Brawl’ game to a charity of the team’s choosing.

This year, it decided to give to the The Matthew Jacques Mission,” a drive to help an ailing 6-year old boy and his family raise money for a heart transplant.

Jacques was born with a heart defect and has had three open-heart surgeries in an attempt to alleviate the problem and reconnect his heart to his lungs. But he needs a heart transplant. The New Haven Register wrote more about him here.

To honor Jacques, the Indians gave the boy a North Haven uniform and a ball.

Not only did Jacques score a touchdown, but he SPIKED THE DARN BALL.

Cue bedlam at Vanacore Field.

Good God, I love this kid.

Well played, Matthew.

Great job, North Haven.

Hmm. I think I have something in my eyes…
