GUNSLINGERS

Nick Roberts, Trumbull QB: Completed just 10 passes, but those completions went for 362 yards and 6 TDs (73 and 11 yards to Eric Anderson, 90 to Thomas Hayduk, 13 to Quentin Brunetti, 95 to Hunter Wnukowski and 11 to Jamar Robinson) in 49-16 demolition of Westhill.

Nick Cascione, New Canaan QB: In just about 1 1/2 quarters, went 8 for 9 for 170 yards and 4 TDs while running for a fifth score in 49-7 rout of Danbury.

Ryan Dunn, Ridgefield QB: 15 of 20 passing for 234 yards and 4 TDs ( 5, 19, 47, 11 yards) in 48-22 rout of Stamford.

Andrew Tarantino, Newtown QB: 4 TD passes, 3 to Julian Dun, in 56-13 rout of New Milford.

Jordan Vazzano, St. Joseph QB: 284 yards and 3 TDs on 16 of 28 passing in 44-20 romp over Wilton.

Jake Kasuba, Foran QB: 13 of 17 for 197 yards and 3 TDs in 42-14 handling of Trinity Catholic.

Kyle Chudoba, Oxford QB: Threw for 2 TDs (9, 56 7ards to Chris Vankamerik) and rushed for a 2-yard score, all in the first quarter, as the Wolverines toppled Immaculate 34-12.

Billy O’Malley, Brunswick QB: 18 of 30 for 303 yards and 2 TDs in win over Trinity-Pawling.Also ran for two touchdowns

BULLDOZERS

Arkeel Newsome, Ansonia RB: Playing into the fourth quarter for the first time this season, rushed for 317 yards and 5 TDs (77, 5, 48, 14, 21 yards) in 62-28 defeat of Derby.

Bobby Drysdale, Brookfield RB: Ran for 190 yards on nine carries and scored three touchdowns in a 48-7 win over Stratford.

Colton Smith, Fairfield Prep  QB: Rushed for 219 yards and accounted for 5 touchdowns — four on the ground (13, 10, 80, 49 yards) — in 38-28 victory over previously unbeaten Shelton.

Will Bonaparte, Ridgefield RB: 180 yards on 20 carries, including a 51-yard TD run, in victory over Stamford.

Jared Willsey, Bethel RB: 118 yards and 3 second-half TDs (32, 7, 3 yardss) as the Wildcats pulled away from Bunnell 41-14.

Patrick Lesch, Staples RB: 134 yards and 3 TDs (10, 1, 15 yards) on 17 carries in 52-23 rout of Fairfield Ludlowe.

Mufasha Abdul-Basir, St. Joseph RB: 161 yards and 2 TDs in win over Wilton.

Andrew Khon, Foran RB: 132 yards running  to lead 277-yard ground assault in victory over Trinity Catholic.

Timmy Hinton, McMahon RB: Filling in for injured star Trevon Forney, ran for 98 yards and 3 TDs in 41-13 victory over Harding. The Senators at 5-0 are off to their best start in 20 years.

GAME BREAKERS

Jai’Quan McKnight, Ansonia QB: 102 yards rushing and 3 TDs while completing 3 of 5 passes for 146 yards in victory over Derby.

Jack Shaban, Barlow QB: Rushed for 102 yards and 4 TDs on 17 carries ran for a 2-point conversion, threw for a 5th TD and recorded a sack of his counterpart, Mike McCourt.

Griffin Ross, Darien WR: 12 catches for 196 yards and 2 TDs on bombs of 48 and 43 yards from QB Silas Wyper in 31-6 victory over Fairfield Warde.

Austin Longi, Greenwich WR/RB: Returned a punt 62 yards for a TD, ran 59 yards from scrimmage for another score in 49-0 whitewash of Norwalk.

John DelliSanti, Fairfield Prep WR: Scored TDs on 11-yard pass from Colton Smith and an 11-yard run in win over Shelton. Caught 4 passes for 77 yards.

Tim Maher, Law QB: 3 running TDs (5, 10, 1) and threw 24 yards for another score in 34-0 win over East Haven, the Lawmen’s first victory of the season.

Zachary White, Foran KR: Set tone early with 83-yard TD return on opening kickoff against Trinity Catholic.

Peter Lummis, Weston: TD runs of 50, 2 and 2 yards, kickoff return of 80 yards for TD in 62-32 defeat of Notre Dame-Fairfield.

BRICK WALLS

Foran defense: Led by Andrew Melendez, held Trinity Catholic to zero or negative yards on 18 of its first 26 rushing attempts.

Beau Santero, DL and Alex Dobbin, DT, New Canaan: Santero recovered 2 fumbles, Dobbins recorded team-high 7 tackles against Danbury

Mark Evanchick, DE, Myles Ridder, OLB and George Reed, DE, Darien: Evanchick and Ridder each had team-high 7 tackles against Warde.  Evanchick and Reed each had 2 sacks while Ridder added one.

Kenneth Keen, Brien McMahon: 2nd-quarter INT gave the Senators the ball at Harding’s 38-yard line. Three plays later, the Senators connected on a 37-yard TD pass, putting the game out of reach at 27-7.

Jimmy Knight, Brunswick LB:  2 sacks,2 tackles for a loss of yardage and was around the ball throughout in the Bruins’ 44-14 win over normally high-scoring Trinity-Pawling School Friday night.

VALIANT IN DEFEAT

Tyrae Small, Derby RB: Rushed for 185 yards and 2 TDs, also scored on 76-yard kickoff return in 62-28 loss to Ansonia.

Mark Piccirillo, Shelton QB: Threw for 401 yards to go along with 3 TDs and 2 INTs in loss to Fairfield Prep.

Marcus Fulton,  Notre Dame-Fairfield, RB: Rushing TDs of 59 and 17 yards, 70-yard TD pass reception, 75-yard kickoff return for TD in 62-32 loss to Weston.

    I take it the author of this section doesn’t read the other papers or doesn’t bother to look to see who had the best days??? Pomperaug QB has set the state record in two consecutive weeks for completions in a game (40/61 and 38-55 400 yds in each) and his WR caught 15 for 169yds with 2 TD including the last one to beat Masuk with 18 seconds left. And they don’t even rate a mention. WOW
