Wave beginning to rise in New Milford

After three consecutive lopsided losses to start the season, the New Milford High football team has quietly won two of its last three games, including Friday night’s 55-11 trouncing of Watertown in the SWC-NVL Challenge.

In that game, A.J. MacDonald ran for three touchdowns and Jacob Plancon ran for one score. Nick Kimball had an interception, threw a 63-yard touchdown pass to Scott Eherts and caught three touchdown passes.

The Green Wave (2-4) will host Bunnell (2-4) on Friday night. Bunnell’s two wins have come against two teams that still haven’t won a game this year, Immaculate and Notre Dame of Fairfield. Don’t be surprised if the Wave adds a few more wins to its record before all is said and done this fall. And the annual Thanksgiving showdown with rival New Fairfield should be a heck of a game.

If New Milford’s coach would let the better players go both ways there defense would be way better and they would have played more competitive games and would have easily beaten Bunnell. The Pomperguag game would have been way closer also. He has most of his best athletes on Offense and has this crazy idea that they are better off going one way. Fresh legs are great in close games but when your defense gives up 50+ a game , what’s the point? He is a good coach but when the ego gets big so does your ability to adopt to the team you currently have and change.
