Immaculate forfeits Friday’s game; Mustangs’ season in doubt

Due to insufficient numbers, Immaculate has forfeited Friday’s game at Stratford, Immaculate athletic director Jeff Castaldi confirmed Wednesday.

Immaculate started the season with 28 players on the roster, Castaldi said, but that number’s since dwindled to 16 because of injuries.

The Mustangs entered this week 0-6, having been outscored by a combined 265-107.

“The decision we’re making is from week to week,” Castaldi said by phone Wednesday.

Castaldi said he’ll meet with Immaculate principal Joe Carmen within the next few days to further discuss the program’s status for this season.

The Mustangs will continue to field a junior varsity team this year, Castaldi said.

The Mustangs have games remaining against Bethel (Nov. 2), Masuk (Nov. 9), Newtown (Nov. 15) and Notre Dame-Fairfield (Thanksgiving). Stratford came into this week 2-4.

Has the thought ever been to combine Immaculate and Abbott Tech to form a coop team? Immaculate has struggled a lot the past several years….would forming a coop help at all?

yes it was considered abbott tech wanted to run the show
that was the word on the street

It can not happen now because Tech rostered 31 kids this season. It has to 24 or less to Co-Op.
