LL, L state finals shifted because of winter weather

The forecast for snow has forced the CIAC to alter its Saturday schedule for the state football finals.

The Class L final between Darien and New Canaan has been pushed to 11:05 a.m. at Stamford’s Boyle Stadium. It was previously scheduled for 2:05 p.m. at Central Connecticut State’s Arute Field.

The Class LL final between Southington and Fairfield Prep will remain at Arute, but will move up to a 1:35 p.m. kickoff. It was previously scheduled for 6:05 p.m.

Both the S final between Ansonia and Woodland (Friday, 7 p.m. at Arute) and the M final between St. Joseph and Brookfield (Saturday, 10 a.m. at Arute) will remain at their scheduled times.

With snow and freezing rain in the forecast for both Saturday evening and Sunday, the CIAC did what it must to complete the state finals. Per rules, the games must be completed by Sunday, or else co-champions would be declared.
