New Canaan-Darien state final moved to Stamford

The Class L state championship game between New Canaan and Darien has been moved to Stamford’s Boyle Stadium. The game was originally scheduled to be played at Arute Statium on the campus of Central Connecticut State University at 2pm  as part of the CIAC’s championship Saturday. Darien and New Canaan High School are separated by just five miles and now fans in the area won’t have to make the  66-mile trek to CCSU in New Britain to see the teams play.

“It makes sense,” send New Canaan coach Lou Marinelli.”There was no pressure from anybody to change the location. This is good for everybody, the players, the fans, and both towns.

“The weather could be bad so now we all don’t have to travel so far in weather that could be really bad.”

The Class L final at Boyle Stadium will kick-off at 11:05 a.m

The Class LL final between Southington and Fairfield Prep will remain at Arute, but will move up to a 1:35 p.m. kickoff. It was previously scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
