OFF TO WORK WE GO

Chris Preovolos/The Advocate

I’ve been driving by this turquoise-colored house on Stillwater Ave. on the city’s West Side for months, waiting for a something interesting to happen in decent light. 10:30 a.m. on an overcast day isn’t ideal, but I like this photo nevertheless:

Volunteers, from left, Michael Gathers, 15, Jasmine Forbes, 16, and Dwayne Stephenson, 21, from the Boys & Girls Club of Stamford walk down Stillwater Ave. during the 2008 Great American Cleanup event in Stamford, Conn. on Saturday, May 31, 2008.

A GOOD WALK SPOILED

Chris Preovolos/The Advocate

A Greenwich High School golfer makes his way down the 9th fairway at the Country Club of New Canaan during the FCIAC boys golf championships on Thursday in New Canaan.

OVERHEARD: Back in my day, we’d say: “Coach, these roughs are g-narly.”

Umpires Ray Faustich, of Seymour, left, Bob Victory, of Norwalk, center, and Rudy Costello, of Bridgeport, right, hang out in a locker room while waiting for a thunderstorm to pass before eventually calling a CIAC tournament game at Westhill High School in Stamford, Conn.

ANOTHER DAY AT THE BALLPARK

While chimping during this game in the first-round of the FCIAC baseball playoffs, I thought this photo of Gavin McCullough tying up the game with a solo home-run might be the shot. It didn’t turn out that way…

Norwalk answered by dropping a double into centerfield and scoring the winning run:

It should be noted that as I sat on the hill shooting the game from my reclining beach chair, a colleague and proud grandfather of a SHS player reminded me that I have a pretty good job. Frank’s always right.
