VINTAGE SPEED

Chris Preovolos/The Advocate

Above: Anthony N. Wang careens down the chute in his 1957 Maserati 300s during the 2008 Rolex Vintage Festival at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Conn. on Saturday, August 30, 2008.

Below: Shaun Henderson, of Greenwich, hits an s-turn in his 1958 Morgan Plus 4 four-seater.

It doesn’t get much better than a day at work AT the races.

FIRST DAY

Chris Preovolos/The Advocate

Students, from left, Diana Goodwin, 9, Evelyn Santos, 9, and Francesca Merenit, 7, on the first day of school at Silvermine Elementary School in Norwalk.

Several teachers noted that nobody was crying as of first bell today. Looks like it’s off to a good start.

PHOTO BLOG: THIS IS HOW WE (LOBSTER) ROLL

Magdalene Perez/Special to In Sight

The photoblog and colleagues were on a mini-cation this weekend. The following conversation took place after a member of the party pulled out a DSLR to shoot her lunch at a clam shack near Montauk:

CP: Wow, I’m a photographer and I didn’t even bring a camera.

MP: Well, it’s not my real job.

DD: Yeah, he’s gonna write in his journal after lunch.

CP: No, I was thinking about interviewing some of these people here just for fun.

HULA BREAK

Chris Preovolos/The Advocate

Korey Reynolds, 5, of Boston, watches jump ropers from atop a speaker during a Double-Dutch tournament sponsored by Character Under Construction at Roton Middle School in Norwalk, Conn. on Saturday.

There were only a handful of kids at this event and let me tell you, shooting jump rope indoors is not an easy task; hence the hula hoop shot.

PERFECT PITCH

Chris Preovolos/Advocate photo

Desmond Parry, 16, of St. John’s Cricket Club uses a heavy concrete-filled roller to prepare the cricket pitch at Lione Park in Stamford, Conn. on Wednesday, August 21, 2008.

This is an enterprise shot that did not run in the paper. Editing on deadline is always tough. No two people in the photolab could agree on what they liked best from this take.

P.S. I promise to stop posting sky-heavy photos just as soon as they cease to entertain me.
