Swim Across America

|

It was truly impressive to see the number of people who came out to swim from half a mile up to five miles in the Long Island Sound today to benefit the Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy. Nearly all the swimmers arrived back on land smiling, as they should! They had every reason to be proud. My favorite photos from the day, however, are of Maureen Fahey Barre. I managed to capture her at the beginning of her .5-mile swim, where she looked calm, steady and focused:

I also happened to catch her at the end of her swim, where she looked so proud and happy to have completed the course:

Her accomplishment and positive attitude made me want to jump in the Sound and participate, too! It was a beautiful day and a very nice event. Congratulations to all the swimmers.
