Light streaming through a stained glass window casts a kaleidoscope of color on the floor at the Unity Hill United Church of Christ in Trumbull. My assignment was to cover a women’s chorale performing holiday numbers, but this colorful pattern on the floor grabbed my attention as soon as I entered the church.

Seeing big birds in bunches the last couple of weeks!

This was the scene outside my personal polling place, Orange Avenue School in Milford, the only district in the city to go for Republican mayoral candidate Bob Joy ( by 3 votes!) . All I could think when seeing this was, “I really hope these things are recyclable!”

So we all heard the forecast leading up to Saturday, “snow on the way,” yada, yada. I chose to ignore this in the vain hope that we would only get a few light flurries. Even as I was leaving to drive to the Staples v. Darien football game Saturday morning, I was still in denial, refusing to believe it could snow before Halloween. Lets just say I really should have made it a point to find my good gloves before leaving the house.

The fall colors aren’t great this year in southern Connecticut, but my travels today to Twin Brooks Park in Trumbull still yielded a couple of good scenes.
