Back by popular demand, Shakespeare on the Sound will be offering 3 summer camp programs:

the Groundlings (ages 5-8) explore Shakespeare, his world and his plays through ensemble building activities. They will be introduced to movement, vocal technique, and creating a character. Via arts and crafts, participants will delve into literacy and vocabulary activities. Camp will culminate with short performance piece. Pre-requisites for Groundlings: Participants must have completed kindergarten. There will be no exceptions.   This is a one-week program.

The Globe Players (Ages 9 – 12) will investigate the complexities of Shakespeare’s language, create bold characters, and explore movement and vocal technique fitting to a young actor. They will also have an introduction to stage combat techniques and clowning. The Globe Players will strengthen their ability to work as an ensemble and create a half hour performance piece performed the last day of camp.  This, too, is a one week program.

The Folio Ensemble (Ages 13-17) is a 3-week acting intensive. Participants will work together to investigate, develop and execute an hour long theatrical performance based on Shakespeare’s classic themes of love and betrayal. The participants will explore some of Shakespeare’s most well-known texts. Over three weeks the Folio Ensemble will advance their study by creating and sustaining a character’s journey through the course of a production process. The Folio Ensemble will also participate in Master Classes such as: Monologue, Character Development, Text Analysis, Clowning, Stage Combat, Directing, and Stage Make-up. Master Classes will be taught by Shakespeare on the Sound actors and artists affiliated with the current and past productions. The Folio Ensemble is an advanced acting intensive open to theater students from all disciplines of theater. Acceptance in The Folio Ensemble is based upon audition.
