Norwalk Reads! will be holding its spring Book Fair of free books to the children of Norwalk on Saturday, May 5 from 10am-1pm at the Norwalk Public Library, East Norwalk Library, SoNo Public Library and the Rowayton Library, as well as Colonial Village Community Center and Washington Village. They invite all Norwalk children to come and get their free books at any of these locations on that date. This program is free and open to the public. The mission of Norwalk Reads! is to provide children books to keep as their own. Norwalk Reads! distributes both gently used and new books. They are a volunteer organization that has thrived with the help of corporate friends, the Norwalk Kiwanis Club and the cooperation of the Board of Education and the NEF. Norwalk Reads! was founded in 2003 and has distributed more than 75,000 free new and gently used books to more than 20,000 children. Norwalk Reads! also includes an active literacy-outreach program to Norwalk children – from birth through high school, as well as to their parents.
