Rowayton Gardeners Christmas Market… the best for the Holidays!

by:

The Rowayton Gardeners’ annual Christmas Market will be held on December 3rd from 10am to 10m at the Rowayton Community Center located at 33 Highland Avenue, Rowayton CT.

After weeks of workshops to produce unique decorations, the Rowayton Gardeners will have a plethora of handmade table arrangements, boxwood trees, decorated wreaths and plum puddings for sale.  Residents look forward to this event to decorate their homes for the holidays and at the same time benefit the community of Rowayton.

Proceeds of this event help the Gardeners continue their civic beautification projects in the community as well as outreach projects with our youth and the elderly.

In addition to creating their own decorations, the wreaths and arrangements are trimmed and made from natural materials such as holly, pinecones and evergreen gathered from members’ gardens.  Shells, miniature birds and natural materials are used in addition to traditional Christmas themes. The members have fun in the workshops and are delighted to see the excitement of customers as they see what was created for them.  Come early for the best selection.

This year, attendees to the Christmas Market will also be able to bid on 10 silent auction items:

Elizabeth Arden of Darien gift certificate,

Flowers and Flowers of Darien gift certificate,

Hat Attack-Buji Baja winter hats and bags,

Kazu Japanese Restaurant of South Norwalk gift certificate,

Marc’s Rowayton Market Gift Basket,

Rowayton Fire Truck Birthday Party Visit and Rowayton Pizza,

Rowayton Wine Shop wine basket, Rowayton Gardener Basket,

Sails American Grill gift certificate, and

Wendy’s Closet Boutique (new store opening soon in Darien) gift Certificate.

.

Proceeds of the Christmas Market help the Gardeners continue their civic beautification projects in the community as well as outreach projects with our youth and the elderly.  For more information on the Rowayton Gardeners and the annual Christmas Market, please visit www.RowaytonGardeners.org.

Rowayton Gardeners Meeting – September 8th

Rowayton gardens never rest and neither do the Rowayton Gardeners.  The first membership meeting for the Fall season for the Rowayton Gardeners is on September 8th at the Bayley Beach Pavilion at 11am.  All members are invited to attend.  This year the Club will be presided over by Erin Combs and Sally Tepas.  This promises to be a great year and a fantastic opportunity to ensure that the Club prospers and meets the challenges of 2011/2012.  But they really need your help to meet these challenges.  The club blossoms when everyone works together to gather new ideas and to promote the Gardeners goals and projects.  Plus everyone always enjoys the added benefit of friendship.  Please make your membership count!

An Open Letter of Thanks… from the Rowayton Gardeners

The Rowayton Gardeners would like to thank the Sixth Taxing District for their help in our continuing efforts at the Rowayton School Pond.  Most recently with their assistance we installed two additional benches along the path.  We hope this will lead to a further appreciation and enjoyment of the beauty of this special place.

As I leave this office to my successors, Sally Tepas and Erin Combs, I know I leave you in excellent hands. Sally, Ex- President and master gardener has been a very good friend and inspiration to me since I joined four years ago.  Erin Combs, one of our newest members, with her experience in garden design and interest in garden

Dear Rowayton Gardeners,

Thank you for all of your extraordinary help with this year’s Plant Sale and for all the work that was done in the run up to the sale.  It was a glorious day.

Great gratitude goes to Tammy Langalis for organizing the perennial digs and to all of you who did the digging.  Four hundred and ninety perennials were dug up and they looked wonderful for having the extra time to get established in their pots.

Thanks to Betsy Bain, Karen Larocque, Petrea Poler and Nancy Schlater for going to the various wholesalers.

Thanks also to all of you who helped unload the delivery on Friday and for your work setting up the room to be a feast for the eyes for all who entered.

Special thanks to Rose Curtin and Lily Langotsky – Rose for leading the staging of the room and Lily for arranging the garden carts and porch planter so beautifully.

I’m sure I’ve forgotten to single out some of you – my apologies.

Sincerely,

Andrea Woodworth,

Rowayton Gardeners Garden Sale Chair.
