A West Haven man has admitted his participation in a 2007 gas station robbery, police said Thursday.

Paul Lacroix, 26, of Mohawk Drive in West Haven turned himself in to police after learning there was a warrant for his arrest.

Lacroix and another suspect are accused of the knifepoint robbery of the Shell service station at 1345 New Haven Avenue, in October, 2007.

He was charged with first-degree robbery and fifth-degree larceny and released after posting a $50,000 bond. Lacroix will be arraigned March 23 in Milford Superior Court.

Officer Jeff Nielsen, the Milford police spokesman, said detectives investing an unrelated case developed the information that led to Lacroix’s arrest, and a second suspect is expected to be arrested shortly.

Lacroix told police that his involvement in the robbery was due to his drug addiction, Nielsen said.
